  • I've been using my gear s3 frontier for years on power saving mode so I can get 4 days out of it. All I really use it for is to read emails and messages and occasional music control.
I guess the forerunner will be a big upgrade for it? Does it have quick reply messages and displays emojis/stickers?

    • I moved from S3 Frontier to a Garmin Smartwatch (Fenix 6X Pro). They are completely different devices, and Garmin excels as a fitness watch and with battery over 2 weeks. Takes getting used to with the MIP screen but I would have switched much sooner.

  • Hi guys
In case someone can share your thoughts.

245 is slightly old (2019) is it alright for the next few years in terms of updates?

    Is this price matcheable elsewhere?

Kogan and Catch have lowered the price of the white FR245 to match the $199 price.

  • Garmin product support is rubbish, I've contacted them twice about the common "blob on the screen" issue on my Forrunner 45 and not even a reply in over 2 weeks. I'm having to pursue it with consumer affairs statutory warranty.
If you happen to get a good one then Garmin are great, however if you have an issue, Garmin don't want to know about it. You've been warned!

    • Reading reddit and the Garmin forums - they seem to suggest otherwise, from what Ive read Garmin customer service is exceptional, they often provide support and replacements on items out of warranty

You may have just been unlucky

      • I think you'll find the Reddit and Garmin forums are from USA owners, their support would be vastly different.

  • Seems like a great deal if it does what you're after. I was after a Garmin device compatible with Garmin Golf (my Vivoactive 3 battery appears on the way out) and unfortunately the 245 isn't listed as compatible (if anyone else is wondering) according to here: https://support.garmin.com/en-AU/?faq=yDFnzX9r4X5vVbG7WAeEm6

  • Does anyone has a spare Perks barcode? This is the one that JB HiFi sends out, not the digit coupon code. Thank you for it. Keen to get 400$off for FR245M

I'll do a screenshot and PM you in 5 mins.

Cheers! The link does work and thank you for the quick response in a such short notice time.

  • Bought it yesterday and found out it has no Chinese characters stored in it, which means when someone sends me a message in Chinese it'll show a question mark for all Chinese characters. And JBhifi won't refund it cause it's a watch…

  • Does it have NFC?
Can I use it to store my card, tap and pay?
