Looks like www.placie.com is gone. Their website is a blank page and their app seems to be delisted from Google Play and the Apple Appstore. Business listing on Google Maps says it's "permanently closed".
Only discovered by accident when the app wouldn't open for me this morning. Pretty poor form not notifying their customers but at the same time at least their communication standards were maintained right till the end. They are/were a carsales.com.au business, after all!

Yes, i got an email from them a couple of weeks ago saying they were closing down.
Personally, I just didn't think the business model worked. I found the app hard to use and didn't really see any benefit over booking directly with the rideshare provider.
So what did they do exactly?
Basically tried to aggregate all the ride-sharing companies onto one platform (Uber, Ola etc.). They then also included public transport as an option to get from A to B with bus and train times, fares.
In a market where uber is struggling to stay afloat I don't see why some keeps getting sucked in. They were only good with those free ride from amex.
This is what happens when the age of easy money has come to an end.
I was wondering the same thing this morning when I couldn't load Placie or find it on Google Play anymore. Decided to check OzBargain. Here we are.
Damn. I used them so many times with vouchers .they were really useful..saved a lot of cash on trips to airport and back plus I liked being able to price compare between different apps

Ony used them for DIdi due to the free vouchers.
