iPad 3 16GB Wi-Fi $519 -- $435 with Leather Case

I am looking at buying a ipad3 for my daughter for her birthday in late Dec.
She would prefer a white one.
deals.com.au has a 16gb wifi one for $510, 32 gb for $599. A friend will get a 10% credit. It is a close friend so I could that as a discount for me (anything to help a friend.) With starthere, I get 6% cash back. So that brings the 16gb one down to about $435.

We'll be going overseas later, so there is no big rush as we can get it later and get the tax refund. This one is black. She wants white.

Is an effective price of about $435 good?

ps - if you want to sign up for deals.com.au - here is my friend's referral link.
You could sign up for your account, log out and then go back to deals via StartHere and get some money back. http://deals.com.au/Perth?r=51674534

The main thing here is I am hoping for some advice on whether the effective price of $435 is a good price for the 16gb wifi ipad3

  • An iPad 3 Wi-Fi for $435 — yes that would be a good value. However I am not sure whether you will be able to get 10% off referral discount AND 6% off StartHere cashback at the same time. StartHere works like rebating the referral so I am not sure whether they will put two referrals on the same purchase.

This is probably also a grey-import so you don't get GST in the invoice, thus cannot claim it back via TRS. Apple's warranty is international though.

Edit: I see that you've also posted it as a deal http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/77163 — may the community decide whether it's a good deal or not :)

  • It looks like the 32gb might be good, but not the 16gb. I don;t think we need that, so a 16GB is fine. She really wants white, so I will not wait and keep an eye in the 16BG sales. There are bound to be some between now and mid december.
