Suggestions for Monitor with Inbuilt USB Hub

Hi all, I'm looking for a new monitor to serve as a home work station for my Laptop. I've seen a few with in-built USB hubs which look great for decluttering the workspace. I'd like to be able to connect my laptop to as few things as possible when at home.

Does anyone have any specific recommendations for this purpose? Ideally I'd only need to connect my laptop via 1 USB C cable.

I'm looking for mainly productivity uses so thinking 4k 27-32"sizing.

So far I've seen the Dell 27 4K UHD USB-C Monitor - S2722QC which looks to fit the bill

  • This is the one I bought for my WFH setup with work-issued laptop.

As it was below $300, I was able to claim it as work-related deduction in one hit.

    • This one’s FHD though, OP is after a UHD screen.

  • If space is tight, get the Dell - it's awesome. Otherwise the Lenovo 32" 4K monitor is also amazing for a bit more ($500 on sale regularly). Wife and I switch desks regularly so USB-C is a godsend.

    Source: own both monitors

  • The Lenovo 32” is fantastic as heck.
    No Ethernet, if I recall.

    I own 32” Dell, 32” Lenovo, 27” Dell, 27” Dell

All 4K - some newer models some older - highly highly rate the Lenovo for about $550 when on sale at JB or Amazon.

Great monitor for the money, just great

  • Sticking a dock/hub to the back of a normal monitor might work out cheaper.
The people I have seen on youtube doing clean desk cable management route everything to a hub stuck under the desk, then one wire coming from it to the laptop.

  • Separate the purchases. Get the monitor you want, then pick the USB hub with the ports you need, and clip to the back where you'll never see it. There are some which allow you to clip a small i/o to the front. From what I've seen, the built-in 'hubs' are not very good, missing RJ45 ports, using outdated USB standards, etc.

    • I bought a well known brand monitor with a built in hub. It didn't work very well etc. I eventually found in the very small print on a web site that the hub went to sleep when the monitor went to sleep. Try using a mouse or a keyboard attached to that hub to wake up the monitor. Not going to happen. I bought a cheap hub from Amazon which the delivery might have cost more than the hub (I have Prime). I used cable ties to put it on the leg of the monitor and worked happily ever after, The hub had also had a built in 2 metre cable to attach it to my PC.
