KitchenAid Mixer Advice for a Family of 5

Hey OZ Crew!

With Mother’s Day coming up I wanted to get my partner a Food Mixer as she loves cooking etc! She has always mentioned she wanted a KitchenAid mixer but not sure what I should get seeing they have different sizes.

We are a family of 3 kids. Our youngest is 9 and oldest is 14 so not sure what I should look for knowing KitchenAid have different sizes.

I did notice the following has 20% off but do you think this will be ok for a family of 5? Or should I look for something different.

If you have any advice or questions to work out what I should get please let me know.

What do your kids ages have to do with selecting a food mixer?

If you had kids you would know how much more they eat as they get older.

Oh dude - if you had kiddos then you would know how laughable your reply is!

          Thanks Karen.
If you read my post then you would understand that I’m asking parents who might have kids around this age if the following size mixer is ok or if they felt they needed something bigger.

            @ScratchMaster: lol

Odd how often kiddos ages are mentioned in posts on here when totally irrelevant.

            As you were, daddy-o!

OP literally says they have 3 kids, why are you being such a donut, wake up on the wrong side of the coffin?

How often does she bake? And what does she like to bake?

I have one of those and it is more than enough for doing things for my broader family but I’m not a huge baker. It gets used maybe once or twice a month. I have heard differing opinions of this size being adequate

The mini is great if you’re tight on space (I am which is why I bought it) but the down side is that not all kitchenaid parts are compatible.

If your wife loves to bake or bakes regularly I’d say get a full size one and not the mini.

    • Thank you. She does bake a lot and with 3 kids I do feel the Mini is to small. We also have a lot of space so that won’t be an issue.

I really appreciate you giving feed back.

  • Just get the biggest unit you can afford.

That's my wife's advice and why she chose me.*

    *Probably.

Mine always tell me that good things come up in small, 30 second packages. She never elaborates on it though

  • If you wanted to make ice cream with the Mini, the ice cream attachment won’t fit; need a bigger one

  • Thanks everyone for the feedback. I decided to get 4.8L
