8GB is pretty tight nowadays.
If I bought a new laptop, I’d want 16GB or the ability to upgrade to it
I have done coding with 8gb till recently.
Well have you found any 16gb laptop for under $1000 which is not bulky ?
If size isn't the issue, then (example) https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/hp-15s-fq2733tu-15-6-full…
Depends what one considers bulky.
Quite a few options if you search the laptop tag
@FireRunner: For me anything over 13" and heavy is bulky. As a student, I thought better to have one that not heavy and easy to carry.
There you go OP
Checked the lenovo education store for what they currently have going? I don't have an account anymore but that was usually my first stop.
lenovo ideapad flex 5
Last time I bothered checking (and this was a while back) there is little appreciable difference between i3 and i5 for most people. The only differences were things like whether the CPU supported instruction sets for virtualisation- so unless you're studying comp-sci or something similar, the CPU level isn't going to be a big deal.
Is that your school’s BYOD spec?
Is this the best deal currently for the given specs?
Lenovo IdeaPad 3i i5-11320H, 16GB DDR4, 512GB SSD, RTX 3050 4GB, 15.6" FHD 120Hz $999 ($979 Targeted) + Del ($0 C&C) @ TGG eBay

Not a bad deal, but if you're not gaming you don't need a) the RTX 3050 and b) the 120Hz screen. Those will just harm the battery life.
Yep, not into gaming. Which other one do you recommend?
High school student doesn't need 16gb, get Surface Pro
