Hello fellow mild spice enthusiasts!

I've been meaning to buy a decent pepper grinder that doesn't break in mere months like the standard supermarket ones, but whenever I do my research I come across naught but Peugeot recommendations for quite a lot of money that I'm not willing to spend.

Thought I'd go for a hunt within my favourite price category (one tier up from the bottom) and came across this deal for a grinder from a reputable kitchenware brand that is heavily discounted down to a comparable price to all the cheapies. Have purchased one and hoping it's a significant notch up!

If you have any alternate suggestions for decent pepper grinders that aren't going to break the bank like the Peugeots, pop 'em below.

Other colours in the range also available for $5+ more.

Not a fan of ones that are stored downwards facing. More spillage when moving around etc.

  • Nice one OP…

  • @Doy You might want to check out the Peugeot mills again. Some of the sets are 50% off at the moment :)

What a rort. Still overpriced at 50% off

  • Shut up and granulate!

  • Entirely made of plastic. I don't see how these are any better than saxa grinders you get from the supermarket for $6

    • There doesn't appear to be any plastic at all. It's made from rubberwood, ceramic and a bit of metal.

Look at the pictures. The mill is made of plastic.

Don't be fooled by the brand, Maxwell Williams is like Russell Hobbs, average quality with a very high price tag

The mill is obviously made of ceramic (as advertised and also due to plastic teeth not being able to grind rock salt) with a possible plastic shield over it that is most likely to be made from ceramic too.

The entire body is rubberwood (an actual wood) the mill is ceramic and the retaining rod/clip are metal.

I'm not saying this is high quality or that I'd even consider buying it - I'm saying you're incorrect about what it's made from.

We've tried many over the past 15yrs. $10-$75 ines. They all seem to break.

For the past 3yrs we've used the Saxa ones

The first time you want to refill you a bit of 4x2., Take.the lids off and give it a good whack until the collar comes lose. Then after that you can just whack it with your palm.. They've been really good.

These are what I use. I would put money down that the Saxa grinder is better than this Maxwell & Williams one, having used my friends one.

Turn them upside down and slam them into the bench. The collar will come down and you can refill them.
