Farm Stay Recommendations in Victoria

Hey all,

I'm looking for recommendations for good farms stays in Victoria which are kid friendly and have animals on the farm. Would be great if they have niceties like farm fresh eggs that can be had for breakfast, freshly picked lemons or blueberries etc

Not looking for the top Google hits which are crazy expensive. Looking for something in the range of $250-360 for a night for a cottage that can accommodate at least 4 adults and a kid.

My mum loves animals, good scenery and food. So, I would like take a break with the family at such a place for a weekend.

TIA

  • Sounds like our joint (except the blueberries - too hot) but we only share it with family and friends. No internet randoms sorry.

    • You should build a greenhouse & grow the blueberries - they're $9 a punnet this week

      • Hopefully everyone can practice self control and abstain from actually handing over their money. I live in hope.

        • nope, too many people will vigorously defend their right to completely waste their money

Have a look on hipcamp.com. Although most of the listings will be for camping/caravan sites, you should be able to filter for other types of accommodation like glamping or cabins. I've stayed on plenty of sites that offer animal feeding/petting and organic produce, but I'm a tent camper so can't offer specific recommendations that tick all your boxes.

  • We’ve stayed in a couple in Bright. Kids loved it. Could ride horses, play with pigs, look after chickens and feed cows

    • Deets of the places?

      • Aspen Heritage and Alpine Farm Stay

Both had lot of animals, and think it was Alpine, there was deer and kangaroo on their farm

This was pre-Covid, so no idea what it’s like now

If your mum loves animals then why take her to the very places they are bred and confined to be exploited and killed?

I think op is looking for a hobby farm with pets. Most legit farmers don't have time or desire to host holiday makers.

We stayed here: https://www.wildfallsgippsland.com.au/ (through Airbnb).

Had animals (alpacas (?), chickens, ducks, cows, goats) all roaming around during the day. We had fresh eggs in our room and got to take part in feeding, including feeding 2 very young bobby calves that had been rescued and fostered (I think our timing was right for this and not something they have all the time).

Highly recommend it, though the room was just for my partner and myself - will need to check their accommodation for a larger group.
