i recommend Greenshot .. open source and very .. very powerful screenshot tool

I use Greenshot (Free, Open source) on a daily basis for many years now and I like the ability to directly upload to imgur, which makes it useful when I'm trying to give instructions online. I just tested this app and it only allows you to save to clipboard or save to file. There's no direct upload function.

Also… the app has a subscription fee? https://i.imgur.com/RpeOvsE.png

I'll have to give this a thumbs down since you have to pay to continue using it and it has less features than open source alternatives.

  • I think this does the same but for free right?

  • OCR and need to pay lol. Joke.

  • It is important to use reliable and/or open-source for those things. You never know if the app will send the info to a server, either for the logic to process it in the cloud or with second intentions.

Screen capture and OCR are built into Windows 10. You don't need to pay anything to use them.
