Buying something from a global corporation for the same price as local aussie companies is a bit of a dog move, support local if you can.

But the local businesses will charge an arm and a leg for delivery. I remembered trying to buy a microSD card from some locals and the delivery was $14.95. We're in OzBargain not SupportLocals.com.au.

Don’t forget that Amazon has much faster shipping and much easier returns.

I returned a SSD from Amazon few months back. They literally paid for a courier to come to the door and take SSD back and the refund was processed within an hour of the package being collected. No questions asked.

Bet you’re not getting that from Umart.

Yep, Amazon returns policy is AAA+.

If the total price including shipping are the same, sure, support local. This doesn't seem to be the case here.

If the SSD was made in Australia, I will be supporting the locals…

    • You mean the local Aussie companies that import everything?

MSY have been great since being acquired by umart.

    • Is this true? My only compliment to Umart was it wasn’t MSY. If they’re now the same, I’ll just start avoiding both even more.

      • Umart sold me a second hand item as "new". If it weren't because there is no stock elsewhere, I would have returned it.

I also don't see the "great" part since MSY no longer have store specific clearance items.

      • I've never been to Umart but MSY have been great but mostly because it's so conveniently located for me.

      • I'm pretty sure Umart didn't turn into MSY…
