131

I just bought this TV from Big Brown Box.
I am really happy with fast (next day) delivery.

Compared to other model and size,I believe this one is best.
2 pairs of 3d glasses are included.

The quality of picture and sound are stunning.
Plasma TV is perfect for gamers.

Hope I could help you a little bit.
Cheers

  • is this a reliable site? I've never bought any from them before

BTW- It says no stock Australia wide until the end of August

It is reliable and reputable. However, personally I had a bad experience with their customer service rep. Very rude.

    • +1

The customer service at this place is absolute rubbish. They are extremely rude n not Co-operative. Beware. I bought n canceled my order due to delivery issues n then pathetic customer service.

did you eat your "a"s and "d"s

  • It's a good TV. Plays most movie formats via USB. Beautiful picture, beats all but the newest most expensive ($1500+) LED LCDs for image quality IMO.

But I did buy mine for only $850 a whole year ago (D550 not E550, and only one pair of glasses, but otherwise same) and the screen has been cracked (looks like my strong toddler threw a metal toy at it, don't know).

  • How does it compare with the Pana 50ST50A? this is $400 cheaper…

  • Do plasma still have that burn in problem?
Vert tempted, not sure buy now or wait till it's available at end of August.

Yup, they are very prone to burn in problems. I used to work in the AV department at DJs and we had a "burnt" plasma (display) TV every 3 months or so.

    • I bought a D5900 solely for a ps3….big mistake. Played about 200-300hours worth of COD on it. Have the hud burnt into my tv now. But then COD was the only thing i used the tv for (movie here and there but the aspect ratio gave me black bars on the top and bottom, the burnt in parts weren't getting refreshed).

If it's for normal tv/movies use then it shouldn't have problems. If you'r only going to game on it, i'd think twice.

I'd still go for a plasma due to superior iq compared to lcd's though.

      • The Panasonic 50" Plasma is much better. It it much brighter and just looks natural. I think it's the best value for money screen at the moment. BBB has it for $1300 once. I bought it for that price at Dick Smiths. Bargain hard with cash :)
Mine has no issues. People say it buzzes but mine doesn't. Only sometimes when there's lots of white colours but that doesn't bother me as it's not very loud. Very happy with mine and very happy that I paid the extra for it. I don't rate the samsung plasma at all. Would rather go with the smaller Samsung size LED.

        Mik

Is this the one you are referring to? Seems to be $898 delivered

        • definitely go for pana over samsung. At the time of my purchase i was tossing up between the two, but the pana's were about $700 more expensive as the samsungs had a really good sale price.

I beleieve Pioneer has had some agreements/contracts with panasonic in helping develop their neo plasmas. For those that don't know, Pioneer actually made the Kuro plasmas which are considered to be one of the best plasmas ever made.

        • This one here:
          http://dicksmith.com.au/product/GE3511/panasonic-50-quot-th-…

That's a great deal offered by Dick Smith. :)

BBB doesn't seem to sell it anymore. Not sure why.

  • indeed very good plasma, i bought it 3 months ago only $750 plus extended 3 years warranty ( all together 4 year warranty) but only come with 1 pair glass :(

  • is there stock? it says "No Stock Australia Wide till End August, Item Subject to Change through Samsung Availability"

  • +4

    No stock = no deal.

    • Clearly bait advertising - ACCC link -> bit.ly/HRsJdN You can't put something on sale that you don't have stock of!

I tried ordering one of these mid July when the site said they stock. They will take your money then attempt to sell you something else. A bit of hassle & chasing them to get a refund, but they did. Maybe give it a miss or wait till end of August b4 committing.

  • No stock.
    Copied from the Wiki -
    Limited Quantity
If your deal has limited quantity, please mention it in the description. If the quantity is too small then your deal may be removed. As a guideline, less than 10 quantity of items is not enough for a deal unless the item has a high price.

  • I paid about $800 for this TV from Myer in June. Great TV bang for your buck, but $787 online with no stock isn't a super deal.

  • -1

I've had a look at these entry level Samsung plasmas in stores and the picture quality is very average (and this is comparing it to my CRT).

  • Virtually the same deal as in May, though the OP never updated the price in the title but it was $779.

  • Out of stock here in Victoria - next batch is coming in around the 18th of September

  • it seems the price has increased to $899 still no stock…
