I am in the market for a 2TB NVME SSD with heat sink. Was looking at Samsung 980 PRO SSD with Heatsink 2TB, but am also willing to look at a Gen 3 drive.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Best, as in boot drive. I need the heatsink as i have no other way to cool the drive. Had heard about 980 pro issues, which us why I am asking for suggestions.
Do a search on 2tb drives and read the comments. I learnt the criteria I'd need by doing that and googling. You want dram for a boot drive. I got the wd sn850x from Amazon. But you'd need to buy a heatsink.
The aorus 2tb with copper heatsink has been on special, but it's not at the mo.
This one is 2TB for $163 and gen4 but it runs at the speed of a gen3 so you probably won't need a heatsink.

There is also a 1TB for $68. Both free delivery with Prime.
Unless you have or want a very fast machine this might be adequate.
I wouldn't use it for a boot drive.
Amazon AU also sell Silicon Power drives at reasonable prices at almost any speed you want.
Thanks to everyone's input. I will keep an eye out for a heatsink M.2, and in the meantime I will use a Crucial P5 2TB that I have spare.
I almost pulled the trigger on this one: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/769457
This will also suit your needs: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/773532, but you might want to check the clearances on your mobo as the heatsink is on both sides.
Really appreciate the feedback here. Recently purchased a Gigabyte motherboard for another project that has a built in heatsink for the Gen 4 M.2 slot, so looking for the best value budget M.2 drive for a boot drive, in either 1TB or 2TB. Recommendations appreciated.

Best value for sure! If you want to spend more and get a faster drive go for it.
Thanks for your help, will give one a go. Much appreciated.
"Best" for what criteria?
980 Pros have had some firmware issues recently, would probably avoid.
