    36 months is extremely rough.

    • Just in time for the pixel 10 release.

  • +6

If only I didn't have to use Optus.

  • +3

    Also applies for 24 months.

Wow optus, is that how you entice new customers after optus hack? Such a "great deal " to " jack " new customers !!

    • They gave us the pixel stand and ear buds pro for 50%, can't win all the time :p

Device discount offer: Available to Consumer and Business customers (excluding Tech Fund and Fleet) who sign up or recontract and stay connected to an eligible mobile SIM plan and purchase this device on a 24 or 36 month device payment plan. Discount applied over length of payment plan selected and applied from the first invoice for the device payment. The discount will be forfeited if the customer cancels, recontracts or changes to an ineligible plan and the customer will have to pay out the full cost of the device on a pro-rata basis, excluding the device discount Optus was going to cover. N/A with other device discount offers unless specified. Limit 5 device discounts per account. See above for offer end date. If no date is specified, the offer is available until withdrawn.

    Lol this is no deal

$49 a month for the service. You are still paying for the phone, its just called something else. They wouldnt do this if their service profit margins werent phat. Typical of the big players to offer insulting 'deals'. Surprisingly Telstra did recently offer an actual deal which might be a first. (I'd still never use telstra other than via a third party who buys access from them).

    • who buys access from them

Anyone who wants access to their full network at full speeds.

I had a chat with Optus and offer was -You get 50% on plan as well if you bring more than 1 service to Optus. So add internet plan for a month and cancel internet plan, discount on phone plan will stay.

    • +1

They can afford to slash 50% off the plan just for adding another service. That should warn you how much they rip people off.

  • 36 month lol

  • +2

I thought $18.04/Month on a 36-month contract already contained the Pixel7 pro and whatever mobile plan.

And it turned out you have to pay ($18.04 + Minimum $49)/Month to get that "deal".

    Well, my bad.

    • +1

Exactly, better to buy the phone upfront and take a 30GB plan from some other MVNO

  • +1

Lol, such a bad deal - Will be Google 10 when you finish haha

  • +2

OP im sorry you got swindled so easily into this terrible deal by your local Optus dealer.

  • +1

I'm on the website now looking at it. It looks like you can get the 50% off for a 24mth contract bringing the handset price to $27.06 per month which is a lot more appealing than the 36mth in OP.

  • what the? 36 months? + fee for handset!? ouch. Not a deal!

This. The deal isn't good, why even bother posting it? Imagine how much data OP could lose to hackers over 3 years …

    • +1

wow good call. Re-reading it, it reads exactly like someone simultaneously being too careful (grammar, writing style) and too keen (a huge saving!).

  • +1

Why do people sill go on these lock in plans? and stay with the big providers? they offer a more expensive service for no extra features

  • +1

$63 per month for 3 years for the base pixel 7 is insane. There's no way an actual Ozbargainer would pay this.

  • +2

    Hand in your OzBadge!

  • -1

    So pay ~$500 + $1800.

Looks like the phones only $800 with google anyway so only saving $300 on the phone (has been $680 recently). Then paying for an expensive 30Gb plan for 3 years.

    Not close to a deal

  • +1

This seems like not a deal. I would imagine the Pixel 8 isn't too far off the horizon. And the free bonus of paying to have your data made freely available to malicious actors…not really the perk I'm after.

  • Does anyone know if this deal applies to a price match? Eg Telstra have the pixel 7 pro for $1050 which would be $400 after Optus discount (they offer 650 off which is half their price of $1300).

  • All those who negged this deal have, obviously, never dealt with Optus directly and they probably also complain about Foxtel pricing!!!

Anybody who pays the advertised price is a mug.

Just had my last reduced 24 mth contract expire so contacted them for a new one and got this Pixel 7 256gb plus $59 mth plan for $62.52 p/mth for 24 mths… As for the data breach, use it to your advantage and get a better deal. Not one customer has been affected by a hack from those details… I'd be more worried if I was a Medibank customer.
Funny thing is that most of the time was spent dealing with their new security measures like facial recognition of your drivers license by an external source. It took 2 goes because I don't look much like the photo…

    • What do you get for $59 mth plan?

      • 100GB Data Pooling, Unlimited National/Intl 35 countries + Optus Sport and a new thing called SubHub where I applied for 6 months free Amazon Prime and ended up with 12 mths til May 2024… score!!!
Loyalty is the key - you just have to be willing to threaten to leave every 12 mths. I have 3 phones and a data plan and haven't paid retail for years. Just like Foxtel, you've got to be willing to leave and, when they inevitably fk something up with your order, you tell them it's the last straw and get put through to the retentions department.
So, I'm either paying $3.52 p/mth x 24 for a Pixel 7 or $39 for the plan and still getting the Pixel 7 for $23.52 p/mth x 24 whis 1/2 RRP. And I claim for the GST as it's through an ABN.

        • I had 2 services with them which I cancelled last month / this month.
Was getting 45gb pooled for $12.5 and a free Samsung A8.
For some reason they stopped charging me the 2nd plan for 12 month, should have paid $20.
          Now I'm Optus free :-)

    • I actually just used the online chat to see what I could get on the P7P 128GB for 24months. Offer was $20/month off first 12 months of plan (which is exactly the same as their 12 month sim plan). I politely declined. Might try again for a better deal.

Edit. So looks like you for $20 discount for the 24 months?

  • Online chat offered me this. Is this a good deal?

"Google Pixel 7 Pro Hazel color on 24 months contact 128GB storage $27.06 per month and plan $49 with 30GB data with $15 discount for 24 months. Total per month you have to pay is $61.06"

    • $49 for 30gb locked in for 24 months => no
      At $1k P7P, it's $20 a month.
You can easily get same deal with no commitment and no optus

  • Hi there, looking to get a new phone for the wife and thought this was a good deal before looking at the comments. Just checking if I’m missing something here or if they’re a better deal elsewhere at the moment. $650 for the Pixel 7 Pro for 24 months and then $49/month over 24 month (equals $1,176 for 24 months total), which all up equates to $76/month over 24 months.
