New nbn Connection to Home - Help Required

Evening all,

I am currently in the process of finalising a new home build with the NBN to be organised by us. We have a lead in cable but when I search for our address on various NBN sites and ISP's, the address doesn't exist. Both our next door neighbour's are listed however. My question is this - Do I need to do something to register the address for NBN? I seem to be going around in circles and was hoping that someone who has completed a new build and had to organise their own NBN could shed some light?

TIA.

Thanks for enquiring about obtaining a NBNco broadband service with Aussie Broadband!

We understand that NBNco unfortunately did not have your address registered in their system. Unfortunately NBNco will require you to have your address to be created through their new development process and therefore at this current time we’re unable to have your address created on your behalf.

In order for your address to be created either yourself or the developer will need to submit a new development application directly with NBNco. To begin this process a Pre-Qualification form will need to be completed online via the following link:

    https://www2.nbnco.com.au/develop-or-plan-with-the-nbn/new-d…

Alternatively if this link does not work you can search ‘Register Your New Development’ on the NBNco website.

This is a direct application with NBNco and once the required works are created then NBNco will create your address in their system and Aussie Broadband will be able to order a NBN service for your address.

    • Thanks heaps for the info!

Essentially this. The developer (and you aren’t the first I’ve heard about) are dropping the ball. They should be putting in an application to NBN. Pretty much at the start of the build. Developer will have to put in a request and you could be waiting anywhere from 6 weeks or longer…

    • Pretty much at the start of the build.

Actually they wouldn’t be able to do this until they’re given the addresses during the subdivision process, which in Victoria doesn’t start until at least all walls have been built, but for smaller dual/triple occs may not even happen until fences are built too. Council needs to issue them with an address before they know what address they’re applying to get registered with nbn.

    • Thanks Kavie, I just thought it was something we rang up about close to hand over. I guess you live and learn.

      • "This depends on the type of technology, if its NBN Skymuster or fixed Wireless then they can install this after the fact as its installed on the roof pointing at the nearest Satellite Beam or Wireless tower.
But for fixed line services they need to be notified as soon as the land is divided so that either new Fibre or a new Copper pair can be organised depending on tech. Frankly I would hope its FTTP being a new development but you never quite know with NBN.

when my house got built it wasnt loaded to the NBN as the address it is now. it was like unit 40, lot 74, 61 street road suburb and not 63 street road suburb

    • Yeah Units are a funny thing particularly with water and NBN as sometimes they go off old Australia post data that isn't always up to date.
