[eBay Plus] ASUS RT-AX89X Wireless AX6000 Dual Band Wi-Fi 6 Router $479 Delivered @ Computer Alliance eBay

240
PLUSITUP

Original Coupon Deal

Amazon is price matching Computer Alliance but you can also purchase from Computer Alliance's eBay store and take advantage of the PLUSITUP coupon code saving you another $20. The eBay store also has the $100 cashback promo as part of their image so it should be OK. I had a quick skim of the T&Cs and while they say "authorised and participating ASUS retailer/reseller", they don't specify any (that I can see).

OK. The rules for cashback are a little weird but I believe this promo is basically promoting loyalty. You need to already own a product from Table 1, then purchase a product from Table 2 within the promo period. If you purchase the RT-AX89X, you can get $100 cashback.

EVENT TIME

2023/04/01~2023/05/31

Example Scenarios:

You are eligible for the cashback promotion with any purchase of one or more of the routers in table 2, as long as you already purchased or own one of the participating routers in table 1.

E.g.

  • Scenario 1: You have purchased 1 x RT-AX88U in 2023, and you have purchased 1 x RT-AX86U in 2023, this means you are eligible for $50 cashback

  • Scenario 2: You have purchased 1 x RT-AX53U back in 2019, now in 2023 you have purchased 1 x ROG Rapture GT-AXE 16000, this means you are eligible for $100 cashback

  • Scenario 3: You have purchased 1 x ZenWiFi XD6 in 2023, but you do not already own an eligible router from Table 1, you are ineligible for the $50 cashback

Lol that wifi router kinda looks like Blood Gulch

  • This or Netgear xr1000

    • +5

Not a fan of netgear myself so I’d take the Asus

    • this as it has 2x 10gbe

Are there any wifi 6E routers that are part of the sale and worth looking at?
    This is a three-year-old router.

    • Same sentiment. Was searching for reviews and found videos from a year ago!

  • IMO, the best router right now is this.

    https://www.umart.com.au/product/asus-tuf-ax4200-wifi-gaming…

    A quad core, 2ghz router, with 4:4 5ghz and 2.4ghz.

Fully OpenWRT compatible; but shipping (obviously) with Asus' known good firmware.

Should laugh at anything people throw at it for quite some time to come.

Sir your router is more powerful than my computer

    • i know it's apples to oranges but would 2 of these be better than a unifi or tp-link omada setup?

Considering a UDM Pro + 2x UAP AC Pro
Or similar setup with omada (switch, router, AP's)

    • What’s the difference between that and an 86U?

    • Damn what a shame I just bought a Netgear xr1000

    • RT-AX89X (AX6000) vs TUF-AX4200

      AX6000 should be better?

      • +1

You are right, AX6000 does have better specs. The commenter probably meant the best OpenWRT-compatible router.

        AX4200 AX89X / AX6000
        Transmit/Receive 2.4GHz 2x2, 5GHz 3x3 2.4GHz 4x4, 5GHz 8x8
        Memory 512 MB 1 GB
        Ports RJ45 for 2.5 Gigabits BaseT for WAN x 1, RJ45 for Gigabits BaseT for LAN x 4, USB 3.2 Gen 1 x 1 RJ45 for 10Gbps BaseT for WAN/LAN x 1, RJ45 for 1Gbps BaseT for LAN x 8, RJ45 for 1Gbps BaseT for WAN x 1, USB 3.1 Gen 1 x 2, SFP+ x 1

          Yep, sorry.
You're correct. Best OpenWRT; and arguably therefore best long term choice (as you have a path once asus support stops)

    • Why can it be better and cheaper than RT-AX89X?

      • the AX89 has Two 10 GBE ports if i recall …

and has basically No third party firmware Support

thats why i skipped it and bought a AX88 at the time …….

    • Openwrt list ax4200. Is it really the same as tuf-ax4200?

    • Can you do it through ssh or gui? or do you have to open it up?

  • it looks……

  • is it mesh compatible?

  • That router looks like it has many spies, with many eyes

  • so tempting because of the 10gbs connection to my NAS

  • Purchasing the RT-AX89X alone does not guarantee eligibility to receive the cashback (see scenario 3). Therefore the $100 cashback component should not appear in the title. It has been removed.

  • Does this router support sim card 4G during down tim?

  • Rog Rapture GT-AX6000 is also around the same price from wireless1 ebay with ebayplus.

    https://dongknows.com/asus-gt-ax6000-vs-rt-ax89x-an-excellen…

Seems to have the best wireless performance of any router at the cost of the 10gbit ports.

Unfortunately neither are good at being subtle.

    • Pretty good deal(s) if you can take advantage of the cashback. I have a GT-AC5300 which is enough for us at the moment. Would be good if they do this sort of promo again down the track when I feel like we really need to upgrade.

  • I purchased a Asus AX86S from Amazon USA in October 2022.

Will the US Asus Router purchase qualify me for the $100 cash back on AX89X?
    https://www.asus.com/au/events/infoM/3925/

    • I would contact them at the listed email address. It does go till the end of May, so you'll probably have more than just this one chance to take advantage of the deal, especially if you can choose a slightly different model or store. The $100 cashback is what makes or breaks the deal really.

Edit: Sorry, $X depending on the cashback amount in Table 2.

  • This is a good router.

Must warn those that have this router in the bedroom - there is a noisy fan. Luckily this fan can can be scheduled to be turned off.

Another warning that the current standard is wifi 6E and this is only wifi 6. Also, new standard - wifi 7 is being formalized and will be release very soon.

I bought one of these to replace all my Ubiquiti stuff and I'm very pleased with the huge performance increase. 10Gbe to NAS, Multi-Gig to wired gaming PC, spare SFP+ slot in case NBN ever arrives in fast fibre form. It will never get Merlin because of the chipset, but out of the box it's immense. Have also got an RT-AX57 connected via ethernet acting as an AIMesh node and the coverage is way better than my old Unifi Pro APs and performance to AX clients is superb.

    • I want to buy this one just because of the 10gbe to NAS. is it improve alot compare to 2.5gb to NAS and access the NAS via wifi. Because of the wifi will be the bottle neck, so not sure if 10gbe worth it
