Kogan Desiccant Dehumifier for Laundry Purpose

Hi community,

I'm looking around to purchase a desiccant dehumidifier ahead of the rainy season for drying laundry.
Considering the temperature inside my house during peak winters, I decided that the cheaper compressor type won't be the best option.

Buying a heat pump or condenser dryer is not an option at the moment. I don't want to get one second-handed due to a few lessons learned from electronic items that didn't even work once when I got it home. The laundry room is not ventilated so vented dryers aren't an option.

So my plan is to set up a traditional airer in my small laundry room, turn on the dehumidifier and let it do its job. Please share your thoughts about this Kogan desiccant dehumidifier. I plan to use it only on the rainest stretch of days.

Does anyone have any wisdom to share on drying laundry using dehumidifiers?

Many Thanks

You can have mine if you want. It's the model without the little window, so maybe not desiccant or whatever.

  • I just got the Breville desiccant. Works very well. 380W on low setting. 20degree in the room. In a small room the humidity went from 60% to 50% in less than 30min. Clothes dried much quicker but not sure about the time.

My only issue is that it cost me $400 I wanted a quality one from brick and mortar store.
next day the exact same thing on Alibaba for $100. nice profit margin. So thats why it was so easy to do a price match.

Buy any desiccant type they are the same internally.

  • I bought a small kogan one for $120. It was ok but died within a few months.
I then bought a big breville one and not only does it work 50x better, but it is still going strong a year and a bit later. But it was like $350.
Spend the money, or alternatively hang your clothes on a clothes horse near the heater.

  • I have a couple of those Kogan Smart 7L dessicant dehumidifiers. It'll dry clothes in a small laundry room. It'll take around 6-8 hours for a full load. Add a small fan in the laundry to help air flow and cut down the time it takes for the clothes to dry.

  • Delonghi is the best

  • I have the same one for our windowless bathroom and it works well enough. I occasionally use it for drying clothes - it's not as good as proper airing outdoors, but it does work. It takes quite a few hours and you need to spread the clothes out properly to get it to completely dry e.g. if you hang a long sleeve on a coat hanger, it won't dry very well on the underarms bit of the shirt.

  • Never buy Kogan
