  • Was gonna get this but didn’t really like the space grey colour. Ordered the silver version price matched at officeworks with Mobileciti 2 days ago ending up at $3751.55. Will pick it up tomorrow!

Typing this on one I picked up a couple of months back for $3620. Best PC I ever had, just buy it…

    Too expensive for M1 chip

    • +2

M1 Max will be sufficient for most people for the foreseeable future.

This is actually a great price for the M1 Max. The m2 max in comparison is only slightly better for around $1.5k extra.

    • +5

M1 Max is way better than an m1 chip you need to do your research.

      • Will it make my pron more hi-res?

        • yep runs it in 8k

    • Too expensive for a laptop too ;)

  • wow thats a good price yes its not an M2 but its still decent for video editing. This is the final macbook pro that doesn't have a notch lol.

    • +4

      It does have a notch

    • It does?

  • Wow that's a good deal. A few weeks ago, I bought the same specs, but with 64GB of RAM instead for an extra $900, so that makes this deal better. Not sure I'll ever need 64GB either lol.

This laptop is an absolute beast. If you don't need the extra ~20% CPU or the HDMI 2.1 in the M2, the M1 is a no brainer. The (roughly) equivalent spec in the M2 PRO is an extra $2000.

  • Damn, that price is tempting. I wonder how much I could sell my 16" M1 Pro 32GB 1TB for. Not that I need to upgrade.

    • Unless you have some weird edge case that justifies that you’d be insane to bother.

      That's what I did. Base model 16" M1 Pro 16GB.

Unless your workloads are heavy in encoding, video editing etc, there's really not much point going for the higher model.

Its like buying a 4090 to play 1080p games. It's better, yes, but probably not worth it.

      • Not quite, Max also drives 4 external screens (base only 2) :)

  • I must be missing something…. you can get a 16" M2 Max 12 core CPU. 38 core GPU, 32GB Memory 1TB SSD from Apple for $3499. $100 cheaper than this M1 Max.

    What am I missing?

Thanks for sharing, I have been in a market for a M1 Max for sometime and I purchased this a few days ago.

So….just an update, I just received my MBP. All great as expected (Sealed, Aus plugs, Brand new etc)

The "Limited warranty" is currently set to expire on 28/07/2023, I managed to resolve this relatively quickly by contacting Apple and providing them with the Tax Invoice. I also purchased Apple care as well for good measure (I have 2 young kids, it's bound to get damaged).

    All good so far !
