My amazon alkalines are still taking a charge OK.

I only ask them to take a 75% charge, because alkaline degrades, but hey, some are on cycle 7 and still going strong.

      • Wait what you could charge those? Do I need to use some particular charger?

        • +1

Yep. All alkalines can be charged.

Charger? Either one designed for alkaline, or a hobby charger and some basic battery knowledge.

          I charge mine at 300mAh for 6hrs.
Puts about 1800mAh into them; new is about 2500mAh in most cheap brands.

Its fine for "free", and great for low drain devices like TV remotes where its going to last for years anyway.

Yes please throw directly into your nearest clean river street use ..

      Surely they are recyclable?

Careful… I think this site is all about saving money/spending less, regardless of the consequences

      Expect pitchforks in 3, 2, 1…

    • +6

      Why?

The rechargeable batteries don't work well for all the devices cause they're only 1.2v.

Plus for some low drain devices like remotes etc a single alkaline battery could last longer than the shelf of the rechargeables.

      Alkalines have their place.

Cool story bro. Did you buy it?

    • Guess I'll just stick to the Amazon Basics one's then

      • -2

Good decision….. The cheaper and nastier, the better. Extra points if you get more batteries for the money, so more of them can go into landfill.

Duracell isn’t as good as it used to be - I’ve had many just leak its acid all over and ruin the devices - whereas Ever ready Gold and Energizer have been great

    • Alkaline batteries ARE rechargeable with the right charger, it's not new I was doing it 20 odd yrs ago, alkaline does not charge to 1.2 … that's NiMH

    • +2

Duracell guarantees its batteries against defects in materials and workmanship. Should any device be damaged due to a battery defect, we will repair or replace it at our option. Leaking battery and damaged device must be provided as proof of claim.

They have refunded me the cost of a few devices over the years no questions asked

If you've missed the deal, you've potentially saved yourself a headache. So far the only brand of batteries that have leaked and casued damage to my devices.

What is the Duracell guarantee actually worth?. I'm about to begin the process of finding out myself.

      • They usually either replace your device or refund you cost of device

They refunded me $80 for a 10 year old apple kb
And also a few more device but cant remember how much

        • If it keeps happening, why put yourself through the inconvenience?

  • One review said he only received a pack of 24

    • +2

Just means amazon with refund and you get to keep 24 free batteries

    • -6

This should have been a positive review - less damage to the planet.

  • Duraleaks are like the original Heymix in the alkaline battery world.

Just looked at the Duracells I have in stock.
    Leaking.
    Cancelled order.

  • If you hear something go 'pop' in the middle of a silent night, check your duracell batteries for leaks.
