How come they silver fill a bangle if its gold plated? Why don't they make a cheaper metal on the inside and gold plate it?
@escimojoe, Gold is a very soft metal and when used composing a round bangle it can be to delicate for a daily wear. Silverfilled or more generically a Gold-filled is a term for a SOLID LAYER OF GOLD bonded with heat and pressure to a base metal (silver in this case). This improves mechanical strength while leaving almost the same robustness as a regular gold. Since the gold layer is actually a thick layer rather than plating, the wear and feel is exactly like a regular gold. And.. it is cheaper than a solid gold too.
