I'm a few thousand Telstra Plus points short of the 166,600 required for the current Pixel 6a deal.
Luckily, Points + Pay exists:
I don’t have enough points for a reward, can I pay the difference?
You will be able to redeem some Rewards with Points + Pay. Points + Pay gives you the opportunity to use points and pay the difference with money.
When you select a reward in the Telstra Plus Rewards Store, you’ll be shown a set combination of points and pay required to put towards redemption of that item.
You then have the option to select the combination of points you’d like to use by moving the slider which will also indicate the monetary component payable by an accepted credit card or debit card upon checkout.
Now, if you actually try to do this, you discover a point slider that is isn't actually draggable. And you can't just type in a number of points. Ok the +/- buttons adjust by about (but not exactly!) 5,000 points at a time, that's fine I guess, I can press the button 30 times.
Chat said they couldn't help. Social said they couldn't help and to either make an appointment at a store, or to phone sales. There are no appointments for the next week at any of the stores listed for my postcode. The deal ends today. Social said trying phone sales. Phone sales say they can't help and to try to walk into a store without an appointment.
I've never had any luck, you know, buying something from a store, with a Telstra store without an appointment, but hey, maybe I'll try wasting my lunch hour today.
Anyway, this is kinda just a rant, the points are expiring soon and I wanted to do something nice for my dad, but computer/corporate said no.
Has anyone else have any ideas or want to share any similar experiences?
I believe it is not broken, but intentional - that at the beginning the increments are small, then towards the end, it is a huge step. So in this case, if not enough for full points, the next step down is 76,600 + $288. I have seen this behaviour with a few other items as well in the past.
