Cashrewards Denied Cashback Due to Amazon Not Responding to Cashrewards' Emails?

I got this email from Cashrewards:

"Unfortunately, despite following up with the advertiser on multiple occasions we have not received any feedback on your transaction from Amazon Australia.

Due to the amount of time that has passed we do not expect a response to be received in the future and have such closed your enquiry."

Is there anything I can do about this? They gave me a $30 bonus as a gesture anyway but I was going to get over $100 in cashback before and so just because they haven't received a response surely it doesn't make my cashback ineligible?

Always treat cashback that works as a bonus.

Purchase an item that is cheaper because of cashback with caution.

    Ozbargain 101.

Oh of course, it was a good deal in itself, just a bit disappointed tbh

  • What did @TightAss advise when you sent him a PM?

      You mean @tightarse

      • Oh đź’© … OzB on mobile sux.

        Sincerest apologies to @tightarse

    • Haven’t sent him a PM, but just messaged him under one of his replies on the most recent Cashrewards post. Hasn’t replied yet.

  • just wait for TA to enter the chat … :)

I get all that, but surely either the purchase was cashback eligible, or it was not.
Simply saying in effect, 'the vendor is not responding to us so its all too hard and we are just giving up' so not really much of a response.
If its cashback eligible, then the purchaser is entitled to his cashback. If it isn't, then the vendor should explain why it isn't so you can pass that on.
I don't doubt the troglodytes on here will pile on and do the usual 'treat it as a bonus, not an entitlement' - but if you comply with the relevant requirements it is an entitlement, and people do rely on it to make deals even better.

^ This is exactly my stance on it.

Thanks for your reply. Initially the claim wasn't tracked correctly, but after I sent through the invoice etc they were able to find it and track it manually, so that wasn't the problem here. The purchase was from Amazon AU on Amazon AU and so I am not sure how it would be linked to other companies (other than Cashrewards of course)

      • He means it's possible you clicked on another affiliate like Google before Amazon, instead of CR then Amazon, hence why i) your claim didn't track correctly ii) he recommended you use the CR app (but even that doesn't track 100% all the time, but still better than using the website)

        • Yea but what I’m saying is that even though it mightn’t track correctly at the start I was able to give them the invoice etc of the purchase and they were able to add it themselves.

          • @ThatNintendoKid: They can add anything manually if you show them proof …

            • @kerfuffle: That's what I'm talking about - the tracking wasn't the issue here because I provided proof of purchase and they added it with no issues at all.

              • +2

@ThatNintendoKid: The proof of purchase doesn't show that cashrewards is the last click.

                • +1

@PissLUR: It mightn't, but as I said before they said it was enough evidence for them to track it themselves. The tracking is not the problem, it seems to be that Cashrewards have stopped wanting to contact Amazon because they haven't gotten a reply

                  • +1

@ThatNintendoKid: Yes that's the part that I dislike about them.

There's obviously been an issue since the start. As the tracking has already failed and was only manually added to your account.

I’ve given up on Amazon on cash rewards; never gets tracked

Cash rewards is generally great just not with Amazon so don’t bother

    • +7

Mine almost always track, but then almost always get denied.
It is simply too hard to work out whether something is in a qualifying category - so tend to ignore the cashback component for Amazon purchases.

      • Hi. Follow these tips to help determine category eligibility and you’ll find less Amazon orders will be declined. Thanks.

      • Yeah, I've had at least one instance where I've bought two cashback-eligible items in the same Amazon transaction, both amounts tracked in CR but later on, one inexplicably gets denied while the other is approved. I made sure to check they were from eligible categories. The cashback values weren't high so they weren't worth my time to follow up.

I've given up on cash rewards generally too unless it's a big purchase like dell or something.

Amazon has always tracked for me and never once approved. I blame Amazon being sketchy and CR just keep them on as a big player.

The straw that broke my camels back was when Adidas had 20% for one day until midnight with approved code stacking. I shopped as usual and it showed click history at 12:36pm. Adidas sent order confirmation at 12:47pm. The following day, Adidas generated invoice.

I got the same BS on email about adblockers and clicking out etc which I did not do. I know how to use the thing and have had hundreds of dollars gained back in the past.

Because Adidas generated their invoice after the promo time, it apparently gives them the go ahead to shirk advertising agreements with cash rewards and their users.

Yep it is a bonus and all, but that doesn't necessarily mean retailers should be able to dishonour their promotions and blame it on the affiliates software. Furthermore, the affiliate probably shouldn't treat all their users as stupid morons by recycling the garbage about adblockers and clicking through other sites.

It seems the affiliate is to gutless to challenge the retailer probably for fear of losing them, but another scenario is having no users left. It's too much work for little, or in this case, zero RIO and just leaves you annoyed at the retailer for dishonesty and the affiliate for inaction.

Am I missing something . All the stuff I want from AMZ is in the 0 category's hehe .

Let’s be honest, in the last 18-24 months, something changed with how Cashrewards operates/tracks/support.

    Always proceed with caution.

I have ordered 157 items from Amazon in the last 12 months and only 15 for paid. I don't blame CR. If Amazon doesn't pay, they don't get paid either. We need to blame the correct party here.

    • Then CR should drop Amazon altogether. Not worth the hassle and backlash.

      • I am sure a large part is categories that don't offer cashback. Be nice if every category gave at least 1%.

  • Everything is great with Shopback and Cashrewards until you need customer service.
Experience with official Shopback cc has been unbelievably pathetic (they still send me emails reg my service request even after 8 months!: 'we are yet to hear from the other party'), the rep at ozb is great though.
Reading through the discussion here I would say good luck.

    • Hi. I've just taken a look and can't see any Apple transactions declined from the 10% promo in January. These are all due to be approved in the next week or so. Can you please kindly check your account and feel free to PM me your ticket number so I can investigate, as this makes no sense. Thanks in advance.

      • Situation resolved by tightarse, thanx again.

    ShopBack > Cashrewards, sorry TA.

    • CR lost game big time.

For transparency, after I escalated this issue with Amazon, they concluded the reason the purchase did not track and was not attributed to Cashrewards, was because the member added the item to cart several days before clicking out from Cashrewards (against Amazon’s terms of service). I've also been in private discussions with @ThatNintendoKid and he's aware of the responses and accepts the decision. $30 was still provided to him in good will. Thank you.

    • ShopBack is still more reliable IMO.

      • How reliable were they when there was a data hack? Timely with updates?

        • Obviously data breaches of all kind are terrible for both consumers and businesses. However, my comment is solely in relation to the performance of the product (I.e which one tracks and approves cashback in the most accurate and reliable way), based upon my experiences I’ve not had any cashback go missing or been declined via ShopBack, unfortunately the same can’t be said with Cashrewards which I have had instances of missing cashback and a mediocre experience with customer service.

Overall, let’s hope cashback companies can learn from each other as a whole which will hopefully ensure better experiences for consumers in the future.

Again, my comments are based solely upon my experience with the product, others may have had a different experience.
