  • Paid $44 a week a go. Hopefully it doesnt kill your internet connection with your ISP like it did for me.

It seems its a known issue where either rockstar games or your ISP blocks your IP when it connects to social club. It was very frustrating to try fix with some people having to play it with a VPN or getting their ISP to issue a new IP address. I managed to get it running with Cloudflare Warp.

It then crashed on me after 20mins of play and then the next day randomly had a bug in a menu where i couldnt exit the menu, had to kill the game. Other then that, great game….

Currently though second run through on an Acer Nitro 5 and no issues. There is was an low graphics memory overlay error sometimes through the first run through though can keep playing - not surprised as the Nitro 3060 does not have that much to being with.

Graphics are gorgeous and game quite fun. First run through was amazing especially just watching the story develop. There are some slow bits, some really funny bits and the control scheme can be a little too much but overall one of the most ambitious games I have ever played. I hope there is a sequel one day.

Agree, control scheme on PC is quite hilarious; each key is practically bound to it's own action, sometimes I forget what I'm pressing and I accidentally kick or hit my horse rather than mounting it. Great game overall though.

        • do you play gta as well?
the enter vehicle key is F in gta but the same button is melee attack in red dead
if i'm not careful instead of mounting i'll smack my horse then get kicked by it

I hate to be that guy mate but you really are doing yourself a disservice playing on kb. It plays so much better on controller, I can’t imagine trying to finely navigate your horse on WASD. Not to mention the small details - for example, the controller will rumble when your character walks over a cactus or when your horse runs over a small animal, stuff like that

That is good advice! I had not considered a controller. The last time I used one was for an old Xbox to run through a few COD and Halo games. Keyboard and mouse is not too bad once mastered.

One of the other biggest changes I recommend for others looking at this game is a good sound system whether speakers or headphones. I normally use speakers and changing to headphones was a revelation with the soundtrack and sound actions this game has.

    • It’s not your ISP blocking your IP - it’s rockstar banning cheaters via IP address. Of course most residential services and dynamic and a poor sod gets that IP eventually. I had the same issue when I lived in the US a few years ago. I had to recycle my cable ONT just to play.

  • Finally, time to enact out Blood Meridian on my computer!

    I know it’s a different platform - but also available for PS4 for $24 at JB Hif-fi

  • is it worth it? Played like 5 minutes on my cousin's PS5 it was so slow i quit…

    • Have installed it on my PC 3 month ago. Can't understand what's all the rave. Seems slow.

      • I've watched the walkthroughs on Youtube and it seems that way to me too.

      • have you played GTA V? you reckon it's as good?

GTA V is somewhat slow too, but at least it was engaging.

It depends on the games you like. I tried playing battle royale games and stopped shortly as it was way too fast and bright.

The game has some insane levels of detail that took me so long to notice. Environmental affects are so random that I did not encounter a thunderstorm until halfway through my first play and it was amazing. Second play through and I only just realist wading through water or any other landscape will show on your clothing or horse.

Some of the enjoyment comes from discovery. There are so many random events that can be shocking and some not what you would expect in a Western.

Everyone's first play through experience can also be different. The South Park cartoon references to RDR2 are on point.

Playing 5 minutes of Red Dead 2 is like ordering a Scotch Fillet and giving up after eating one chip.
