Half Price: Chapstick Lip Balms 4.2g $2.25, Blistex Lip Conditioner 7g $2.50 @ Coles

280

Also Burt's Bees, Carmex, Dermal and Nivea lip balms are half price, but higher price than Chapstick and Blistex.

Winter is fast approaching, so it's time to stock up on lip balm while it's cheap. I can verify that the "Conditioner" Chapstick ones store for multiple years without any noticeable degradation, as I bought ten a few years ago, and now I'm down to three. I don't know about the other ones.

The price has only been this low at one other time in the last few years, and only for a very short time - one week. Price will probably go back to normal on Wednesday. Price history here:

Chemist Warehouse have this regularly on sale, but lowest price there is $3.00, not as good as $2.25:

Burt’s are my go to for lip balm

      No substitute for Bert's Bees.

All nivea lip balms are $2.50 on Amazon, or $2.25 with Subscribe & Save. Link here

I prefer Bert's bees - my all time fav. Carmex is good too. Nivea is ok.

Bert's Bees Original Beeswax is cheaper on Amazon with S&S ($3.15). Pomegranate also

    • Only cheaper if you have Amazon Prime for free shipping. Not everyone does, for example I wouldn't save any money with Prime, as I don't buy much from Amazon.

If you haven't tried Carmex before, I recommend you buy one and try it before bulk purchasing. I tried it once, and it made my lips red and puffy and feeling hot, perhaps because of the camphor that was in it.

Wikipedia says "Applied on skin, camphor may cause allergic reactions in some people; when ingested by mouth, camphor cream or ointment is poisonous." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camphor

      • Yup only good for Prime customers :)

I don't have an issue with Carmex. Sorry you had to experience that :(

        • Yeah, I must be allergic to it. But I don't have any problem with Vicks Vaporub, and its main ingredient is camphor. Maybe lips are more sensitive to allergic reactions than chests? Or maybe it was one of the other ingredients.

Still, it seems pretty stupid of Carmex to include ingredients that cause allergic reactions. And are poisonous to ingest.

You absolutely will buy much from Amazon once you get Prime.

Just think of it as a bargain streaming video platform, with the added bonus that you can buy random lip balm and groceries and cables whenever you need them, and they arrive next day for free.

It's not really about saving money…

With the constant amount of amazon bargains I’m surprised people don’t have prime yet . I mean it pays itself off over time.

        • It also means you can buy a whole bunch of stuff from Amazon that you couldn't buy before - there's no longer a postage charge making cheaper items uncompetitive. Gaining access to this huge extra market is almost worth the cost alone.

    • I like Nivea best. The chapstick branded one and the Aldi brand 50spf ones do nothing for my dry lips, just gets them greasy for a few minutes. The Nivea ones feel like they actually moisturise. Plus they feel like mini lipsticks, makes you feel real fancy twisting the bottom and the thing rises straight up without rotation, like an actual lipstick tube.

Bear in mind that some of the Nivea ones have some kind of colour in them that stains clothing.

      • It depends on the Nivea flavour. Some flavours are good and some are bad from experience

        • I didn't know the flavoured ones were also coloured when I tried them all. And tbh the coloured ones I tried made me look a little healthier compared to my usual pale lip colour. But if it smudged or stained my sleeve or even a tissue in front of someone then I would feel pretty foolish.

    • Burts is way better than Nivea products for lip balm.

And this was from using Nivea for a few years before i changed over to Khiels which became too expensive and once I went to Burt i never went back.

  • Blistex 7g looks unavailable for me.
    State/store specific availability?

    All good. Store stock specific

  • Damn - I'm waiting for this to go on sale so I can stock up - https://blistex.com.au/lip-balms/repair-relieve/medicated-re… - easily the best lip "balm" I've used.

    • But.. you username says you have no lips? Now I'm confused.

        It's a miracle product.

  • Thanks….got a couple of the Burts Bees…not Burt's (Burt is Bees?)…..lol

    • I dunno is it the Queens English or the Queen’s English?

  • Damn it, just missed this! Would have totally stocked up on Dermal.
