Save up to 16c/Litre on Fuel at Coles - Must Have Flybuys - This Weekend Only

70

Just got this email. Must have flybuys and activate the deal on your card

Spend
$60-$69.99 = 12c/litre
$70-$79.99 = 14c/litre
$80+ = 16c/litre

mod - some clarifications
1. As said this is only for existing FlyBuys holders
2. You must have an email in your inbox from them, which has a fuel discount offer
3. You then have to follow the instructions in your email to activate it (always be careful to check these emails to make sure it's not a trick from con artists aka phishing scam)
4. The actual spending requirements vary from person to person; Coles wants each person to spend more than they usually do

  • Mine is different:
    $50-$59.99 -> 12c
    $60-$69.99 -> 14c
    $70+ -> 16c

    • which state?

    • I got the same, I'm in WA

  • $90+ = 18c/litre

  • +2

    If it requires activation, it's probably specific to you. Other people may receive different deals. Generally the more you ignore them, the more desperate they are for you to activate the deals.

    • That would fit. Last time there was an offer, I got the offer and not a friend of mine who does more shopping. Similarly, last time there was a $5 every second week, she was offered the saving if she spent $70 and I was offered it if I spent $40.

      Whatever amount they think you might increase your spending to get to.

      • +2

        Is this why petrol jumped by 20c on Monday night? :P (Vic; usually but not always … the price falls during the week then jumps for the weekend)

        Mine is $70, $80, $90

        • More likely they time the deals for when a rise is expected. There's a cycle of about 12 days. But you can always keep voucher for the trough.

        • Well, the price around these parts (Eastern suburbs Victoria) tends to be, jump up for Saturday and prices start to fall from Monday through to the end of the week.

          This week though, Monday night time, in time for Tuesday, the price jumped by 20 cents.

          So no, a rise was not expected at that point in time.

    Sheesh i have to spend $140 to get 18c. Not sure I like the differing spend levels on this promotion!

  • Damn mine sucks too.
    70-79.99 = 12c
    80-89.99 = 14c
    90-99.99 = 16c

  • Odd. Vic here:

    $40-$49.99 -> 12c
    $50-$59.99 -> 14c
    $60+ -> 16c

  • +3

    Damn mine more sucks:

    100= 14c
    110 =16c
    120 = 18c

    I Hate their "classing" promotion!
    I should stop going to coles and let me have lower marking!
    Their promotion team sucks!

  • Instead of screen capture, do u have a link or something?

  • Where's the actual source of this offer? ie the URL?

    • No URL. It's a heads up to check FlyBuys emails in your inbox for today and yesterday.

      • +2

        So if you don't get the emails, you can't get the offer?

      • i delete all fly buys emails as soon as they enter the email… haha woops

        • I just activate them all as soon as I receive them, without even reading them.

  • Hi xxxxxx,

    Spend $110 or more at Coles to save either 16c, 18c($120) or 20c($130) on fuel at Coles Express^.
    NSW

    • Got the same here.

  • +4

    $220 to get 18 cents off. I obviously spend too much money at Coles.

    • +3

      Yes! we should all stop shopping at Coles until we've got lower min spend and complaining their promotion.
      Try we all shops at other for 2 month, and we may got that $50 per 12c discount

    • Hey CS Coles doesn't seem to agree to your user name.

  • +2

    VIC here:

    70-79.99 = 12c
    80-89.99 = 14c
    90-99.99 = 16c

    Damn Coles. I might opt out of these emails as I think it is stupid that some people get different offers.

    Besides, more and more of my favourite brands are being replaced by private labels which requires me to go to another shop anyways.

  • $80 = 16c off

  • Coles got special this month at 8c off with $30 spent.

  • I just got an email that if I spend $130, I get 20c per litre off…

  • +2

    I just got an email that if I spend $0, I get 0c per litre off… hahaha :)

  • +4

    Mine was

    $160 gives 14c
    $170 gives 16c
    $180 gives 18c

    I always spend about $100 every week.
    Makes me want to get a second flybuys that I use infrequently to get the lower discount offer.

    • Good Idea! Will apply another one!

      • I forget, can we also share points?

    • dang, I've ended up with 2 fly buys cards but that hasn't panned out. Good thought though :)

      Probably because I haven't spent at all on the other one

      update

      Got an offer for the second card and yes, it's lower.

      $70 for 12c, $80 and $90 for other discounts.

  • I'm still on the old flubuys card in NSW and I got the same as the opening post. I generally dont spend more than $40-$50 in one go at coles.

    Spend
    $60-$69.99 = 12c/litre
    $70-$79.99 = 14c/litre
    $80+ = 16c/litre

  • $90 12c
    $100 14c
    $110 16C

    Considering it's $30 for 8c atm, thought mine really sucked till I saw some of yours. LOL

  • …i am not driving for few days….after reading in-depth analysis by fellow oz….:)

  • +2

    Is it really a deal if u need an email?

    • +1

      not really, because those eligible, would already know about it… so it's a bit pointeless posting it here too…

    • I guess the idea is that a lot of us get too much email to read, so if the community think it's helpful, then it's as good as pointing people to a publicly available catalogue, like with the supermarket deals.

  • +6

    Absolute bull….

    Surely these promos have a negative affect when those who clearly spend lots of money with the company find out that they are treat worse for it.

    Mines spend -
    $120 - 14cents off
    $130 - 16cents off
    $140 - 18cents off

    I generally do most of my shopping at Coles but why is it when I clearly spend more, that loyalty is met with a lesser discount (or rather higher necessary spend).

    Coles is going to lose a customer for a couple of weeks thanks to this.

  • +1

    mine is

    $190 - 14 Cents
    $200 - 16 Cents
    $210 - 18 Cents

    What a load of cr@p

  • $110 = 14c
    $120 = 16c
    $130 = 18c
    Where do they get these figures from? I never spend amounts like that at Coles.
    Perhaps it is from always activating the emails, I am not going to bother any more and see if that helps.

  • All NSW

    Self

    80=14c
    90=16c
    100=18c

    Mother

    60=12c
    70=14c
    80=16c

    Self - have activated all deals and not always used them . Mother hasn't, and also shops less. So Which is affecting difference?

    • Self - have activated all deals and not always used them

      No, don't do that. If you must, wait until the last moment to activate through your smartphone. They up the ante if you ignore them.

      • Oh damn I do this all the time. Activate (just in case I spend over the threshold) but rarely ever get it..

  • +1

    Mine is $80 - 14C
    $90 - 16C
    $100 -18C

    Looks like a trend here. Depending on your normal shopping trends and last shopping the offer extended is different.

    Loyalty to Coles is being penalised. Time to OzBargain Coles. I am going to stop shopping for a while at Coles.

    I shall not shop again at Coles unless they offer me 18C off on $30 !!

    This is a joke.

    I wonder if ACCC would be interested in hearing about this.

  • Nah, just do the fakebook thing with them, get lots of Flybuy cards and cycle through them. Just a hypothetical idea mind you, I don't have any experience in this; I only buy things from Coolies that I can't get elsewhere cheaper, like Preppie bricks on special and bread maker mix. :)

  • can't you just buy something expensive and keep the fuel voucher and return the item.
    just a thought!

    • Is it worth the time and petrol for the voucher though?

      • $18cents * 50L = $9
        may be good just goes in, buy, tear voucher & return. takes 10 min.

    • I've done that before =D

  • Mine's
    $40+ 14 cents
    $50+ 16 cents
    $60+ 18 cents

    Must be based on what you normally spend. Finally a deal that isn't biased towards families.

  • $130 - 14c
    $140 - 16c
    $150 - 18c

    We normally spend $220-$300 per week in a single shop.

    Every few weeks we get a 20c offer from everydayrewards, so the general consensus is right : the less loyal you are, the better the offer.

  • +1

    wow- not happy. didn't know they discriminated like this. my offers were:

    $200 - 14c
    $220 - 16c
    $240 - 18c

    maybe i should stop shopping there

    • +4

      ok i just emailed them and let them know i wasn't impressed

  • Haha!!!

    Who is beneficial party?

    As Coles & Woolies made up the artificial petrol price

    • Now all the petrol stations are going to a crazy "party mood"

    • Coles & Woolies make more sales from their shop front

    • Car owners are paying more for this artificial petrol price

  • Ok, I've got my offer in email.

    $40 12c
    $50 14c
    $60 16c

    I hardly ever shop at Coles and even when I do usually I don't bother to use my Flybuys since there are no points below $31 spend. What did I tell you people? The more you shop with them the stingier they will be.

    • The problem with your statement is there are points below $30 spend.

      • Ok I may be wrong about this since they changed things with Flybuys. In any case the points system are a con because you'd have to spend some enormous amount to get a small reward.

        I was disadvantaged when they went to Flybuys. I used to pay with the Coles MC which got me an extra 4c. So even if they give me points for under $30, it didn't make up for that.

        • Might be a little confused with Woolies. You only get FF points over the $30 whereas with Flybuys its over $5

        • Somebody should work out whether it's more advantageous to get a few FB points or forego swiping the card for a better chance of a higher petrol discount.
