I haven't experienced this at all. Is this something you've personally seen anecdotally? Or some reputable source has stated?
Just wondering as instead of commenting on the deal about 1 particular LEGO set, you've commented on LEGO in general, so would be good to know.
Quality seems the same to me but the sheer volume of sets available and the decline in design quality is def noticeable. The jacking up of the prices has also bitten them hard I think.
Check out this recent Reddit thread
It's becoming a lot more common. That sub is full of issues like this.
who is telling you Lego is having Quality issue?
How do you come up with an idea it is related to China?
Well probably the same logic that Apple and Samsung phones quality have gone downhill since being manufactured in China … oh wait. If lego is following similarly strict manufacturing standards and guidelines it doesn't really matter if the factory is in china or vietnam or indonesia etc, unless they're also cheaping out on the material. Also funnily enough isn't even China getting too expensive these days for offshoring manufacturing?
I'm not China bashing. Local manufacturing won't be on par with the original factory in Denmark.
Lego has been in China for 7 years, but I suspect their machine calibration and maintenance is lacking. Check my link above.
Cant trust everything you see online, check the comments. I've personally never seen lego set that bad, it's refund worthy if true.
@oranglama: I've been playing with Lego since the 80's. Have you seen stubs like that before?
@Ryanek: Nope
The link doesn't cover your comment well. Please think twice before spreading a rumour.
The price gone down is purely economy and demand & supply.
dude… don't you dare bash lego. lego has never cut costs / inflated prices / shrinkflated products in the past 1 year.
/s
p.s. you are going to be crucified by Lego fan boys - this coming from an avid lego collector who pretty much stopped purchasing lego after cost increases, set piece reductions and very poor quality control after ramping up production in china.
Lol yeah, I'm a huge Lego fan myself.
I started to question it when my Lamborghini Sina had different shades of green though.
Actually I can't speak for anyone else - but all I did was ask questions such as whether this was a reported event / reputable source. If it is, then there might be something to it for sure. If it's not, then the 'haters' would be just as bad as the 'fanboys'. /shrug
Peaches, peaches, peaches~
Millions of peaches, peaches for me
Millions of peaches, peaches for free
Appreciate this back in my head, my kids haven't sung it 2100 times yet today and it felt so wrong
Why isn't there a Cat Mario version this size?
I was looking at the history of this before here .
Where are all the Hero's that paid $30 to $75 more ?
Special mention to the most voted thread on here at 53 votes for $329.99 hehe .
Tempted but will keep waiting. And if I miss out, no matter. Got enough sitting in the cupboard anyway
I missed out on the $287 Big W deal last year (they cancelled my order), and I'd been waiting for it to go lower… got this one!
I can't fire because of that Peachs castle that went from $70 to $56 for a $200 RRP set recently .
This set is better but I like those discounts to RRP in Mario :)
I personally would say this set is very different to that one. The castle would fit into the kids expansion / component sets.
So bigger discount than 70%?
You forgot your " /s "
I don't see the coupon :(
Peaches, peaches, peaches, peaches, peaches.
I just bought a 7500 piece set from Panlos for the same price (Arkham Asylum). Really curious how the experience will be.
I have many alt lego moc's as well as 100s of lego sets.
Even at the beginning of the boom (2018ish) alt lego was great - you just had to make sure you bought the branded ones ie lepin.
If you compare the dozen+ alt lego manufacturers now you would be surprised if you could tell the difference between an alt lego vs lego block with Lego's quality control being subpar.
I have lego pieces from new sets that my kids play with and honestly they look worse than alt lego pieces from 5 years back - colour swirls /uneven colour on flat pieces, loose clutch, colour difference/missmatch with same colour bricks in same set, mold issues (see reddit link above for a very very extreme case but man it's happening even if it's minor it's definitely not the quality I experienced from lego when I really got into it 6 years ago)
Alt bricks have increases significantly in price however quality has increased and service from majority of know vendors is great. Lego on the other hand - price increaee, quality decrease.
Ultimately the only difference will be in 5 years time and resale - however I personally don't think the new lego bricks are going to last even 10 years anymore with the quality and cost cutting they have done.
any particular brands or sellers you would recommend?
Honestly, best place to find all the info you need including reviews, updates is r/lepin. You will find everything you need there. Honestly.
What people don't understand is that its gotten to the stage where there are vendors in Europe now selling their mocs by sourcing geobriks from Asia. They are on the expensive side but still I would say inline with lego prices (but hey all alt bricks are bad as they steal lego ip!¡)
Pm me if you need more details
Here's the link to the Arkham asylum if you wanna have a peek: https://twinkleglory.com.au/products/panlos-lunatic-hospital…
