Hello all, I am after feedback about your bed and how you sleep, but before that , let me tell you why. I am 198 cm tall and am about 120kg, and own a king size bed ensemble, Orthokinetic-octavia-support Kingsize https://www.amartfurniture.com.au/orthokinetic-octavia-suppo…
and while it started off good , it gradually turned bad over 1 year of use. So now I am in the spinning matteress every 2 week phase, so I am not sleeping in a Hammock style bed.
To be fair, I am a side sleeper exclusively, and always flip from 1 side to another. I cannot remember the last time I slept on my back or belly. Being a large unit, am I expecting too much from this style of bed?
I am constantly waking in the morning, feeling like I have been depleted of my 8 hours feeling stiff and sore, and getting more grumpy because of it, So I would love get a bit of an idea about what kind of beds people suggest , especially if you are the same weight class and sleeping habits as myself.
Dont feel like making another $3000+ mistake.. Thanks!

It could also be too humid or not humid enough.
Also consider sleep apnea?
Diet, exercise and life style effects your sleep.
Sleeping gets more complex as I get older. I now sleep with one memory foam pillow and 5 cushions in strategic locations. I can't sleep comfortably without them, as I will get hip pain, knee pain and shoulder pain. Also have a memory foam topper. With all this, the mattress isn't that important, as long as it's in decent condition. I use a $500 mattress. Bouncy slats are important too. And a bed frame with a mid-beam for centre support.
Any recommendation for the memory foam topper?
Why don't you claim under warranty for the dud mattress or under ACL considering the price you paid and it's only been ~12 months since purchase?
Thanks for that! Got the ball rolling on your suggestion this morning, will let you know how I go.
See a GP, perhaps you have sleep problems like sleep Apnoea.
My bed is too soft, I get a sore back side sleeping too. But meh, what can you do about it. Should have bought a firmer mattress.
I bought a koala. Couldn’t be happier with the bed & mattress
Just got one myself from a good deal from Costco. Now I’ve gotten rid of the initial smell it seems to be pretty good. I do have a separate topper on it as well.
Can't sleep, clowns will eat me.
Hello joe
Eat some edibles before bed, you'll never have had a deeper sleep. Little groggy in the morning though until you get some caffeine in.
Honestly I read the post and was expecting that you bought a crappy $200 mattress but my jaw dropped when I saw that you spent almost $4000 on a mattress.
Looking at your stats, a quick BMI check says you are classified as obese. Unless you're particularly muscular, this may be a contributing factor to your poor sleep.
You mentioned it took a year to get bad sleep, how do you know it's the mattress and not something else?
Do you have sleep apnea? Perhaps your tongue connector also needs to be snipped. Or the position of your tongue is obstructing your airway due to its size relative to your teeth?
It could be physiological. And need a physiological fix.

FWIW I would look over the posts of this OzB member: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/user/77255
He owns a company that MAKES and sells mattresses and is very helpful on here educating folks on how to find a decent mattress etc - and doesn't push his own products (in fact he's very humbled about them).
Is a complex area where a lot of dodgy stuff goes on so having some 'inside' info can make all the difference in finding a good fit for you.
Thanks for all your posts, worried for my health, I can assure you, I am fine, and have the tests to verify the fact, I have always been large and have a solid build, and no sleep apnea.
Just a lumpy bed that upsets me atm. Thanks though!I recently switched to a Macoda and after years of waking up in the night now usually sleep through.

I'm a side sleeper and on the heavy side as well. You can adjust 3 different levels of firmness and have 100 days to trial the mattress if it doesn't suit.
The sleeping issue could not just be related to bed. It could be the lighting to the room, room is not cool enough? Do you twist and turn during sleep? get too warm?
