Big W are clearing this and there actually seems to be a bit of stock around. I did try a few stores in different states and it was still the clearance price. I believe it's pick up only.

Hope it's at your local!

Edit: Unfortunately it looks like it's not $1.10 everywhere. Usual hijinks from BigW. (Seems like VIC and SA aren't invited to the party just yet. Hopefully they follow the rest of the states and reduce their clearance price again)

Update: When I went to pick up my KitKats I noticed they had already filled the shelves with new stock at $5.50. Looking into it further, the new stock has a different wrapper ("New Look, Same great taste") and barcode so it seems they are trying to get rid of the old stuff so there is only the new product on the shelf. Best before date should be fine. Mine were Jan 2024 like another ozbargainer.

Edit 2: I have put these links in the forums but I'll put them here:

Food and Drink clearance items in "your area".
Food and Drink clearance items Australia Wide

I don't know how they judge something to be in "your area". It does seem to cast a pretty wide net.

Also, I don't why they keep some products on page that 2nd link points to. Is it because there is one lonely packet somewhere in Emerald? For some products I can't seem to find any anywhere, but it still shows up on that page.

I used to smash these often. These are great if you need to gain a lot of weight fast.

There is no safe level of lead exposure for anyone but the risk of lead poisoning is highest for unborn babies, infants and children.

@deme: I didn’t mean to unpublished my comment.

It is unlikely that young children would like the taste of dark chocolate. There is also a risk from rice which a lot more people eat than dark chocolate.

Johns Hopkins Medicine toxicologist Andrew Stolbach told NPR that MADLs are set to be "very conservative" to account for people with higher risk due to their age and other medical conditions. When the chocolate is consumed in moderate amounts, the lead and cadmium levels are nothing to worry about, he says.

"The safety levels for lead and cadmium are set to be very protective, and going above them by a modest amount isn't something to be concerned about," he said. "If you make sure that the rest of your diet is good and sufficient in calcium and iron, you protect yourself even more by preventing absorption of some lead and cadmium in your diet."

tempting to buy one but the bus ride would offset the cost.

You need to buy 10 then to make it worthwhile ;)

  • $2.65 for me

If you don’t want to feel sad, don’t look at what is classed as 1 serving size :’)

  • There seems to be some “nobby’nuts” that are on clearance as well.

  • Showing $2.65 for me ACT

    • Have you tried other stores in the ACT? I don't know how far out of the way the next BigW is but I am seeing $1.10 at some stores in the ACT.

      • You are right. I only looked at the Gungahlin store only

  • showing $1.10 in WA

  • Oh, nice! Not available in my area but thanks for posting anyway.

I don't reckon these taste as good as the usual KitKats. the dark chocolate 'promises', but doesn't deliver.

Certainly nothing like a decent dark choc from Lindt, etc.

And while I'm at it… even the regular KitKats don't taste as good at the English ones. (Or Mars, or Yorkie bars, or even just regular Cadbury milk chocolate.) The English versions have better, higher cocoa fat content. Yum.

can't find that price in VIC

    • I guess keep an eye out. I generally check the clearance items at least once a day and I'm almost certain they weren't $1.10 before today. Maybe they will reduce them again in Vic to really get rid of them.

  • $2.65 here NSW

    • Depends on the store. I believe some stores in NSW are showing the $1.10 price. BigW have a wierd way of doing their clearance prices. Is there a different store that you can buy them from that isn't out of your way?

  • found for 1.10 in narellan, had 6 in stock, got them all!

    • +2

Thanks for letting us know, saves us the drive time

  • Shows $2.65 to me

    • Are you in VIC? Seems like all/a lot of VIC is $2.65. If not, have you tried other stores nearby? BigW is wierd with their clearance pricing.

      • Checking Metro SA prices

        • Maybe similar to VIC. I guess you just have to hope they cut the prices again. I think that's what happened with some of the other states.

  • I don't know why Big W it's so slow to implement the same clearance price across all stores. My store shows $2.65

  • My 10 blocks ready for pickup

    • I hope they don't need to get mine from somewhere else. I don't know how they make sure your order can be fulfilled if the only stock they have is out where people can just take it.

Edit: Someone took one of my Kitkats. They will refund $1.10.

      • Pickup mine up, and found another 2 on the shelf

        • Lucky for you. These aren't short dated are they? By the sounds of things I don't think they'll last long for many people anyway…

          • @ozbs25: Jan 2024

Yep, wont last long. They are also low in sugar too

I also grabbed pics of the yellow ticket sheets for the clearance sales starting tomorrow. Some pretty awesome stuff at bargain prices

          • @ozbs25: Correct.
May 2023 is in the "semi-hidden" date.

  • Order refunded from Canberra Civic store :(

    • Yeah, I think it may be hard for BigW to hold onto the stock to fulfill the orders. Unfortunately you may have to go to the store and fight for what's there. They weren't able to fulfill my order completely. I didn't get a complete refund though.

  • Thank you, got some at my local, Springfield lakes, at the time I saw around 12 left on the shelf !

    And yep $1.10!

  • Got one.
    Actually the LAST one.

Disappointing … I was dreaming with dark BITTER chocolate, not quite, actually rather sweet.
OK to eat but happy only got one (1) :-)

    • Mine are bitter. Low sugar means i can enjoy them very much

Initially tasted weird but now got used to it.

    • Go Lindt 99% or go home.

Still out there in the wild. They were marked as clearance but not at the right price, maybe why they were still there. Got a few more packs.
