Difference between E-Toll Tag/Tagless and Link Online Account

Hi there, not sure if this has been clarified before. Tried online and couldn't get a straight answer.

I use a Linkt account for any of my travel on toll roads. I get a bill a few days after the travel via the Linkt app and with the saved credit card, I pay it on time. Easy! This was convenient for me as I seldom use the toll roads but lately I have been using the toll roads more so wondering if I should switch to the e-toll tag/tagless concept.

My question is - is it cheaper to use the e-toll tag or tagless? I know there are some upfront fees and deposit and a physical tag (in case of e-toll tag) but in terms of the cost of travel per each toll pass, is it any different to using Linkt app?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Without the tag, the toll company needs to process the image, read the rego, match the vehicle, and yadayadayada.
The extra fee is like 55c per vehicle matching (maybe different fee now, read your bills).
You do your math and decide whether it’s worth getting the tag.

  • …and if you need to, you can get more tags to add others to your account. I got one for my husband, my MIL and daughter. Much easier. MIL uses once a year and doesn't have a credit card.

  • If you get a tag/statment & dont want to pay the minimum $25 top up use the bpay code on the linkt account statement to put money into your account. Statments can be viewed in the app/on the website.

  • Are you based in NSW and do you pay your account using credit/debit card (as opposed to bpay)?
Go with E-Toll if so, the merchant fees are much lower than Linkt.
