    • Also Boost did not let me activate more than two Boost SIMs in my life online without needing live chat.

Ugh you're kidding. I just bought my first two a couple of days ago. So what do they ask? Do they ever refuse because you're only using SIMs for the first month?

      • You might get lucky - apparently others have reached 8 SIMs without live chat.

Their live chat has not refused me, but the last few times they started asking why I want to activate another SIM. I'm only at six lifetime Boost activations.

        • Thanks. So what reason did you give? I never had NBN installed so I use these for internet. Since Kogan stopped all deals I was going to switch to these, but…?

          • @[Deactivated]: Simply "I want to use the data for a roadtrip". Just a bit of a hassle. The reps are a bit slow though.

            • @Fobsessive: Thanks again. It's a wonder they didn't try to upsell you - get you to buy more data to load on an "existing" SIM (I assume that's a thing).

  • @tightarse my purchase still hasn't tracked from yesterday (and another purchase from last week hasn't tracked either). I tried using the Send a Claim button but it kept throwing an error.

Do you know if other people are experiencing similar issues with cashrewards?

I have lodged a support ticket, but I was wondering if it might be a known issue or something.

    • I had an untracked purchase end of last month and lodged a claim just prior to Easter and haven't heard anything back yet.

  • when does the sim get sent out? haven't received any email about it

i think they got swamped with this batch of orders

    • I ordered on Tues and got a dispatch email on Thursday this time around. Sometimes, they just get delivered without even receiving an email!

    • Received mine yesterday. Took about 9 days this time around

  • LoL what to do when you get the website saying

    "Something went wrong
We’re unable to process your request at this time. Please try again later."

all time when trying to activate service ?

    • Same. Couldn't get activated since yesterday.

      • I wonder if that is a deliberate attempt by boost to dishonor cashback

Just call them and activate over the phone. Easy. This is normal if you have more than one SIM in existing account OR if you have already used your form of ID in the past on a different account. It will fail.

what Borg said. chat's also a good alternative. i will usually have my details ready to go in a text file to copy and paste to speed things up.

      • So you have to give them the ID details (driver license/passport etc) over webchat or phone?

        • If onto a new email address, then yes,
If adding to existing account then no. They might ask for it however just tell them to use the same credentials that already exist i.e.you have already proved your ID on that account.

        • -1

yes, i've always just provided my medicare card.

          • @tdw: always give them your "medicare card"?
That's fine for a single account i.e. the same ID cannot be used across multiple accounts though.

            • -1

@Borg: well yeah, they ask me for ID every time.

doesn't matter what email address i've ordered the sim with, when i activate it, they send an authorisation code to the email address attached to my first and existing telstra account, which is different.

would be great if i could set up a different account each time to avoid all those activation errors

              • @tdw: Yeah I know. Unfortunately, one can only associate one email address to one form of ID (D/L, Medicare, Passport).

Last week I was able to setup a 4th email address as I got a new Medicare card. In turn the number was different.
The annoying part is that even if one deletes an old account fully, the ID remains on "Telstra's" systems somehow and one cannot reuse the ID on another account.

@Borg: after all these data thefts, the medicare card is the only one i'm willing to sacrifice lol.

have you ever tried to activate with an expired passport?

                  • @tdw: Too true.
As for expired passport…..nope as wouldn’t expect to work???

                    • -1

@Borg: i've had a police check done with an expired passport (only passport i had at the time) so wishful thinking it might work ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
