Quick question about tax
if someone works in a nursing home for like auditing (and use their own car and fuel)- so they work from home but then travel to nursing homes- 3 days they work from home and 2 days they work from their office in city.
I know if they travel from the office to a nursing home - they can claim but what if they work from home and then travel to a nursing home?

Possible if you are travelling to different nursing homes each time and your home is your base of employment. No if you are travelling to the same one each time. Then you are just going to work
imagine when OP got audited one day, he/she will argue: but but but i just followed what ozb family members told me.. cant be wrong! they are like God of Bargain~
It would really depend.
If your office location is the city and you are required to travel as part of work to sites. Would the ATO want you to travel to the city intentionally then out to the site to gain a tax advantage?
What about if you have to travel interstate but work reimbursed. Do you need to go to the city and then to the airport?
Check your contract. If your primary place of work is in the city (it will say) and you are required to travel for work but not reimbursed (that means you have to claim it on tax) you could document and making a quite reasonable opinion (including reference to ATO guidance).

If you start your "shift" or whatever at home then travel to the nursing home during the same shift, sure. But if you leave your home to start your shift at the nursing home them surely not.
