Last day is 11/04, Just think how long these had been in transit and on the shelf….

My advise, don't buy it and realistically Coles should not be selling them.

    • Food poisoning?

I guess if you use it for cooking is ok. I would not eat last dated oyster raw.

Note internet generally say they can be consume within 14 days of harvest. I don't trust that if it is something I am consuming raw.

I am sure coles and KB have factored in transit times into their use by date.

Its not like they start their date based on when they hit the shelf.

That doesn't make sense - it's 10/04 today. Are you suggesting Coles have overestimated the use-by date ??

      • Nope, harvest oyster can stay fresh for "upto" 14 days.
Opened Oyster can stay fresh "upto" 7 days.

Assuming no deliveries during long weekend. Then these where shelved last Friday at best. let add 36 hours from preparation and transit. These are opened Wednesday (again at best). Working on the 7 days that internet suggest then 11/04 is right.

The question is if my estimates are correct, so you want to consume raw oyster that was opened last Wednesday?

Fo cooking I think this "should" be ok.

Sounds like this isn't for you. I'd happily eat the oysters.

  • Must be oyster season. Woolworths Auburn NSW also had a dozen of them today and several times last week for $8.40 if anyone was interested.

    cheap weight loss solution

  • These oysters are tiny

    • Can you really complain for $3?

      • Yeah i would cause at rrp they are tiny, and at 3 bucks you'll get food poisoning

        • It's food and if it has expiry date then coles and woollies can sell for the cost of the oysters. I think this money goes to charities so why not contribute to the system. Thanks admin. 😊

@Transient: "Would you like some more puns?"

            "MORE? Nay!"

  • My local had limited stock of 6 for $3 yesterday with the same short date and they were perfectly fine fresh

  • local coles has big seafood clear out on thursday ….lobster tails were down to $4 , they were doing 80% off probably as seafood demand was for good friday …coles closed on friday, etc ….properly refrigerated and handled is the trick …. if i thought there would be some left it would be oyster kilpatrick or ginger and soy for dinner ….fresh shucked you get the brine , etc which are probabaly all drained from pre shucked and transported , but for cooking it’s a bargain.

  • Yellow fin tuna was half price, had some for dinner tonight. Tasted great.

Great price … powerful consequences though
