Best Way to Deliver 77" TV from a JB Hi-Fi 500km Away to Me?

There's a TV in stock about 460km away from me at a JB hHi-Fi. It's 77 inch so it's pretty big and they cannot transfer it to a shop closer to me.

Any freight or companies that can deliver it to me?

Thanks

      Just dont !
      Find something a drive away

    Backhaul?

It would be cheaper for you to move house closer to the vicinity of the TV

How much of a saving compared to someone who can deliver?

You can try these guys, www.transdirect.com.au but good luck if it gets damaged.

    Where do u live?

Call Man With a Van, ask for Joe. He'll get it sorted for you. Unless of course it's an LG. He doesn't like Korean TVs.

      Is he Japanese?

      • +16

He'd rather not talk about the war.

Truckit.net and put up an ad asking for someone to pick it up and drop it off for you. You will get a few quotes.

My guess, based on size and weight of an average TV and providing it isnt going anywhere too out of the way (ie: Sydney to Gulargambone would be a pricey destination, but Sydney to Taree might not be) it is going to set you back well over $100 and probably closer to $300 to have it delivered.

How much will JB charge for delivery? Did you ask them?

  • +14

Drive to the store and pick it up.

    • +6

Could be done in one day, no need for accommodation.

    • In a van. Wont fit in a 4x4

      • +1

It will fit in a 4x4 ute .

  • +12

How much savings did you get off the TV to warrant a $1-300 delivery charge lol

  • +4

Can't you order it from JB's online store? Then they will organise delivery.

    • No they wont deliver something big. I was less than 150kms away and they wouldnt deliver a bigger TV through the online store to me…

However smaller TV's they will, i am now about 800kms from my nearest JB and they did deliver a 42" LG C2 to me, for a mere $16 LOL

    Get an Uber parcel
pay them with latitude price protection.

    • i’ve just started using my latitude price protection and damage insurance it’s great ..

Wheelbarrow. The walk will do you good.

JB won't deliver more than 100km.

Looks like it has to be a courier but don't know if I trust them or if it gets damaged along the way.
    Ah well

    • Big Risk

      I wouldn't

Try Cope, they specialise in sensitive freight deliveries
      https://www.cope.com.au/

    • We deliver bigger commercial TVs via courier all the time. Just use a specialised one like Toll, Cope, etc

  • Just get these guys to drop it off on their way past

Just wait until EOFY. Hopefully we get some similar or better deals.

    • If it's the CS model they're pretty much gone, but if it's the C2 they should wait.

      • When do C2 sales usually hit?

        • When new models are announced may-june usually and when retailers change the status to EOL.

Airtasker, offer somebody $5 to get it for you ;)

    The Proclaimers (but metric)

    • They only need to walk 500 285 miles

      • +8

But then they have to get home again. But this would come under The Proclaimers 500 More policy.

        • But then they'd be that man who walks a thousand miles to fall down at their door, and you don't want that.

    • They kept their identity! Unlike the school uniform players!

    • I remember the good ol' days of primary school walkathons where they'd play this every time without fail (sometimes multiple times in the same walkathon).

Looking back, I'd do the exact same thing

  • I assume you live in the sticks

Wait until you're coming to town, then get it then.

You actually trust a company transporting a tv?

    • +2

How do you think they get transported to the shop?

      • +5

        A large insured truck

And whats the bet op will have the opposite?

        • The opposite of what? He's not transporting space shuttle parts for NASA. It's just a TV.

    • +1

It’s a 77” TV - they’ll struggle to fit it in a car unless they own a mini van.

      • Many people who live in the sticks have a 4wd

        • +2

          Even 4WD’s will struggle with a 77in

    Join Scientology > Teleport

  • Theres a computer/sensitive freight co which might do it. Google it.

  • To save the hassle look a bit closer to home.

Car got a tow bar? Hire a trailer and grab it yourself.

  • Fkn troll post?

Seriously, who buys a tv 500km away and then thinks about delivery.

    • +1

      Don’t be so surprised.

    • Ozbarg Brain, buy now think later. its our motto

      Has OP actually bought it?

get a projector and screen if you want a badboi that can be shipped to you easily.

  • +2

Price match to a store closer to you.

  • -1

    You just fisted youraelf

  • Just a thought, you can use one of the Uber Car Share promo's that I've seen going around and hire a van? Might be most economical

  • tell them to send it to my local JB store, I’ll pick it up for you

  • +2

The amount of shit that could go wrong with this situation gives one basic resolution don't do it.

It's not worth travelling for and it's definitely not worth sourcing a courier

  • +1
  • Rent a van and go on a trip? Assume the store won't deliver?

  • Wait for it to come on sale via GoodGuys and buy from eBay (free postage, even to Rural)

  • +2

Fun game if you find a cracked screen when the TV finally arrives. The courier and jb hi-fi will blame each other and you will never see your money again.
    Just not worth the risk.

  • theres plenty of fish in the sea

  • Airtasker.

  • Any freight or companies that can deliver it to me?

    Correct

  • +1

Get it delivered to a friends place who lives next to the JB hi-fi then plan a trip there over the next week or two

  • I hope you own one of these big trucks I’ve seen around, then it’s a piece of cake !

Find a friend with a tow bar and hire a trailer? or even better, a friend with a towbar and a trailer! Do a road trip.

I am in East Gippsland VIC and happy to help out for a fee. I have a trailer.
