A few days ago during the morning rush to get the kids to school, my daughter noticed smoke coming from one of my boxes in the sunroom.
I immediately grabbed the Cotton On box full of 50c Bieber hats and Ford socks thanks to deals from here and put it outside the house. Investigating how the fire started I looked firstly for electrical cords and none were in that area. The hole in the box directed me to look at my wife's naughty make up mirror that was the only possible culprit to attempting to burn down my house. Simply reflecting the sun onto my box like a magnifying glass. With all the combustible items around that area and if no one was there I really think the house would have been a major bon fire.
I know this is rare way to start a fire but I was not aware of the dangers of that bloody portable make up mirror. I hope this weird story helps someone to check for possible magnifying dangers (mirrors, glasses, magnifying glasses etc.) that may be lurking in spots where the sun whacks your house. I will attempt to get photos up of the box involved the makeup mirror and the Bieber hat.
Edit: I was aware of sun causing fire from like a magnifying glass but was not actively looking it in my house for the danger.
Yeah ok.
