I've been watching the televised Good Friday Appeal on channel 7 on and off today.
90% of the scrolling text donations have been for $52.
What am I missing here?
Has anyone else noticed this?

Interesting that we are being asked to be generous during these tough times, but the credit card companies can put in a higher than normal transaction costs!
Maybe the extra few dollars could be the "difference" in someone's budget. For example if someone had budgeted $100 for something and spent $48, then they have $52 to spare. Not everyone budgets to round figures.
Whatever the reason is, they're donating… so that's a good thing!
48 dollar kfc family feast and a 52 buck donation?
100 bucks night out
wat a deal
might have been a donation for a year at $1 a week
This makes cents sense. Cheers.
$2 donation + $50 admin costs!
$50 donation and $2 credit card fee.
So it’s easier to spot on the screen? Though not necessarily true if everyone is doing it.
$100 donation, $48 transaction fee - reduced from the usual $50 transaction fee because the bank merchant was feeling charitable ;)
When I transfer money for ppls birthdays, I like to give bizarre amounts because the reactions are priceless.
52 is a bikie code sign
an attack is coming
I'm ready… are u?
Do people outside of VIC know what the Good Friday Appeal is? Seems to me like it's not a big thing outside of VIC, but then again I never watched it when I was interstate.
It’s not a thing outside of VIC. I grew up in WA and we had Telethon and I’m pretty sure no one in the other states knows about that even though it is a huge yearly event in WA
I noticed this too, but I just assumed $52 was the ‘minimum donation threshold’ for your name to be shown on TV. I only watched for all of 5 mins but I’m pretty sure I didn’t see any amount less than $52 displayed (not even $50).
I assume people realized and then started donating $52 because they wanted to donate the minimum amount to see their name on TV.
Could be an odd amount left on a gift card.
A quick goggle search came up with 52 is an Angel number. So I'm guessing they are all religious folk trying to signal how charitable religious folk are.
Maybe for dollar a week. There are 52 weeks in an year. They donated a dollars for every week for next 52 weeks.
Maybe $50 plus an additional donation to cover transaction costs.
