  • Timely! I am looking to pick up something as an interim use option for working from home (my desktop's CPU is too old and doesn't support TPM), but I want something that I can later hook up to the TV to use as a media centre PC (client only mainly, as I have a home server). Any recommendations from what you have in stock?

      • Should be able to connect to TV via DP to HDMI cable/connector. Thats what I do. Assuming TV has a HDMI port - D'oh.
Or add a low profile video card that has a HDMI port at more cost.

meant to say that micros are more convenient to hook up to a TV than SFF

For TPM support any 8th gen and up will do.

Anyone adding a low profile GPUs to these systems should be aware that even not very fast GPUs such as the GTX 1050 Ti, 1650 and RX 6400 are limited by the fact that the main PCIe x16 slot can only deliver a maximum of 35W of power in these HP SFF OEM PCs rather than the 75W that is standard (and which those Low Profile GPUs expect).

HP probably did this as the PSUs are quite anemic 200W in the SFF G2 series and even less in later series such as the G3.

Those aforementioned GPUs will often work, but will lose even more of their already limited performance in these SFF desktops.

These PCs are still totally fine for office use, but the previous craze about these being a decent budget gaming option should well and truly die off.

Any reason for the neg vote on providing factual information that took some time to dig up in order help Ozbargainers make an informed decision on deals posted here (without criticising the primary purpose of this PC - i.e. office usage)?

I do suspect you untech. Poor form if so

How many SATA ports, and is there an nvme socket on the mobo?

  • good deal

  • Please help someone with zero knowledge. I already have a screen, mouse and keyboard and old desktop (10years old Only use it to search internet and word documents.) if I buy one of these do I just swap the desktops and off I go or do I need to buy extra software? Do I need 8 or 16gb?

    • They have windows installed but normally don't include any software (Microsoft word etc). You can edit office documents for free on google docs nowadays for basic functions, so you do not need to buy any software.

For your purpose… I believe any computer will do.
Take a look at this as well

Is smaller and less power consumption. Hope it helps.

Ohh… You also have to check what kind of plug your monitor have, is it vga, hdmi, display port? Check that does your new pc have the same plug.

      • Thanks for your reply. Appreciate your help

  • I was looking at buying this model - 7070 Micro i5-9500t 16GB RAM 256 GB SSD

The link mentions that the unit has 1 HDMI and 2 DP connections. Is this correct as I am wishing to connect 3 monitors to the unit?

    • it has 1x vga and 2xDP

      • Thanks, that should be ok as one of the monitors has a VGA connection
