Best Monitors for Daisy Chaining with MacBook Pro?

I’m getting a MacBook Pro Max and I’d like to be able to just plug a single cable in for power, display etc. Would like to have 3x 27” or maybe one bigger one in the mix. I want the monitors to be daisy chained so they all feed off the one cable. From what I’ve seen online finding monitors that do this is kinda hard and not always clear. What I’m after is others who have already done this setup and what monitors and cables they used. 4K monitors, office/software dev usage, no gaming use (Very little). Would prefer a native setup if it’s possible without a dock and extra software but would consider it if I have to of course.

Thanks in advance:)

  • You're looking for something called DP MST.

    Looks like a dell U2720Q or U2722DE are something you're after. Note that there are P series capable of DP MST, but they typically only has 65w of charging so I'd go for the U series for 90w of charging from what I can see.

    I've got a setup atm that goes from Laptop -> U2520D -> P2422HE -> P2419H

    • These are 2k and 1080p monitors. OP wants 3 4k monitors from my understanding. usb-c does not support 4k daisy chaining so he'd be forced to look into thunderbolt 4 monitors that supports daisy chaining. (i'm no expert on this area as I dont run such a setup, but this was from my understanding of the tech)

      MacBooks don’t support DP MST.

    You will need a thunderbolt dock, or thunderbolt monitors which support daisy chaining. Curiously apple’s own thunderbolt monitors can’t be daisy chained.
