Use Optus Router Back-up SIM in Tablet

Hi,

Does anyone know the settings to use for Optus NBN router’s backup sim in iPad?

I have a cellular iPad I was thinking if I could use my Optus router’s backup sim in it.

I have already put the sim in iPad, it picks up the Optus network as well. But, when I connect to internet, it doesn’t open any website etc.

      Ha ha. That is a good one. I was just wondering if they block at device(router) level or SIM card. If SIM card, it should work anywhere. If I take my nbn connection out and keep router on, the internet connection and wifi network from optus router works.

    Have you tested the iPad connection with the Optus wireless router disconnected from your NBN connection box? I'm thinking the router needs a trigger to failover to the sim card

      When the sim is inside the router, router and the resulting wifi doesn’t need nbn.

      My current wifi setup is eero wifi mesh on Optus nbn. I do not use either Optus router or the sim. I was hoping I could use the sim in some other device.

    The sim in the Optus NBN router used for 4G backup is somehow tied to the modem IMEI number so it won't work outside of that modem. I've tried it in the past and no luck :(

      That is what I feel now. If they have an ability to lock a phone on a network then there would be an ability to lock a sim on a device too.

      There is a use for Optus Segemcom routers: if you know any seniors who don't use much data but want to save on month-to-month fixed-line or mobile broadband, use a 365d Optus sim (e.g Coles) and recharge when it runs out - this provides low-cost wifi

    I use my backup sim at a different location with an lte 4g modem.

    Both work fine
