How are these compared to the North Bayou ones on Amazon?

  • +1

    upvoted for yatta

    • YATTA!

      • I cant seem to PM you, are you on SEA? want to add u ingame haha

        • Sure, I sent you a DM

The vesa part doesn't seem to have a quick release latch which would likely lead to a pretty awkward situation when mounting the monitor. Would have thought a quick release / detachment mechanism would be a must for dealing with heavy monitors

    • Yeah but the cheap north bayou ones which is also heavily upvoted on here also doesnt come with a quick release. just what you pay for at this price i guess

    • Correct. Very difficult unless 2 people ..

      • Can't you just let the monitor rest on the table while mounting the arm to the table?

        • +1

that's what I was thinking too, but yea personally I haven't used/tried a monitor mount before and am not sure what a 'quick release' is

          • +2

@beOson: so with these cheaper units, you fix the monitor to the mount via 4 screws directly, and so its very hard for one person to do it alone as you need to align 4 screws to the heavy monitor.

ones with quick release, at least the one I used. have a part that you fix on the monitor first, and you basically hook the back of the monitor onto the mount, and just need to tighten one top screw to make sure it doesnt fall out.

          • @beOson: But what if you have dual arm stand? And 34" monitors..

    • I think this one has kind of quick release but not real one more like a hook. We screw a plate to the monitor then hook it to the arm.
This is my guess from looking at the picture

That's cheap, I have a similar one from Kogan without the quick release, it's OK to mount up to 34 inch monitor, but yeah it's a bit o awkward, for this price I would definitely try it out.
Recently, I bought a Desky one for 4x the price of the heavy duty from Ops post.

    • +1

how have you found the desky one so far?

      • +2

I'll compare with the Kogan I have.

The Kogan is OKay, I had a 32inch mounted for years, no dramas. Moved to a 34 inch ultrawide curved and still could handle it good. I reckon I paid ~$50.

Then I got the Desky, the build quality is better, it's FAR easier to mount on the desk, because it comes in parts and not one piece like the Kogan. So first you mount the base on your desk, then the quick release baseplate on your monitor (it'll take you roughly 5-10 minutes to mount both), then you you just assemble the rest like lego briks, litterally less than 1 minute to put together.

The range you can move your monitor up-down it's better than the Kogan, for example I can't have my 34 ultrawide on portrait mode using the Kogan, whereas Desky all the way up I could easily shift my monitor to portrait/landscape.

I would say that yes, Desky is better than Kogan, but at the end of the day if your purpose is just to have a monitor arm to save space on your desk and you don't need to worry about height restriction than Kogan it's cheaper (FAR CHEAPER) ant it does the job.

I hope it helps @sir kang

  • Hmm tempted to replace my dual with 2 of this.

  • Thanks OP. Hopefully it's a decent quality.

  • Mine came in today, got the Single 12kg arm for $38.47. Working well so far on my 34" ultrawide, keeping it nice, level and horizontal
Think I might need to upgrade my ikea particleboard desk soon tho, got 2 monitor arms and a desktop pc on it haha

    • Sounds great! Mine still hasn't arrived yet :(

  • I think is expired as with eBay plus+code 8kg still over $40

    • Seems like so. I updated the post. Cheers!

      • Nice find.Wish I could it see it earlier
