  Been painting with this all week. Goes on OK but doesn't seem to stick well and peels off easily (even after sanding the surface).

  My dulux aquaenamel top coat seems to sheet off it like water off a newly polished car. Maybe user error (I am not a professional painter).

  I never had any issues with the dulux 3 in 1 prep and I'm glad I only bought 4L of this stuff.

    You’re kidding? I’ve been a professional painter for over 20 years and can say this is by far the best and most versatile primer I’ve ever used.

    Without knowing specifics it’s hard to comment.

    But it’s honestly a great product

    Using this at moment and works great. Did you mix it up thoroughly before applying it? Worked great over glossy paint but i did sand it lightly to give it best chance possible.

    Also did you wash the surface with sugar soap and let it dry?

      Yeh I did, sugar soap, light sand.

      The surface was a previously painted with a gloss oil base.

      I had better luck when painting over with taubmans all weather, so maybe it was just my aqua enamel that is it has problems with.

      The flaking remained though, so I am not sure what to think. My Dulux prep 3in1 works like a champ though.

        The surface was a previously painted with a gloss oil base.

        Generally you can't use a waterbased paint to cover an oil gloss coating - this is why it's peeling off easily.

        Can you just use an orbital sander to remove the oil paint ? Are we talking about doors here ?

  Best product of you need to paint a different lighter colour over an existing dark colour. Have not found anything that meets or beats this one!

      I'm starting to think that I must have gotten a bodgy batch. I put 3 coats of primer over a brand new door (Hume Duracote finish) and even after 3 coats, I could still see the green underneath. And it flaked off with the lightest of touch.

      The Bunnings lady was telling me this product was the bees knees, hence my disappointment.

      I am not a professional painter but have done many houses over the years (mine, family, friends etc) that I know my way around a paint brush and prep.

  This paint is great, used it on the fence as it has good filling properties. If you have something like cedar which bleeds like you would not believe, use an oil-based blocker like Zinsser CoverStain Primer Sealer Stain Blocker.
