I rather officeworks match this price. Better yet you can get them to pricebeat.

Don't want to give the grub Gerry any money.

      I know I know. I feel you.

Bs with shithead Gerry aside, I've rarely been to a hn store where staff weren't slimy or rude in general. Saw staff kick a disabled guy out of their store for "browsing too long" during boxing day. Another store sold my parents a lower spec laptop at higher price when the one they were after was out of stock, saying it was better. Then stuffed them around with warranty when it wouldn't boot 2 weeks later. Over a dozen experiences with staff just being slimy in general with family and mates and screwing around with warranties.

All things combined I'd rather pay more elsewhere or price match. These (and other) ssd drives have been on sale several times anyway in the past month in other stores. Won't be the last.

"Saw staff kick a disabled guy out of their store for "browsing too long" during boxing day."

I call BS on this one. As much as I hate Gerry Slimeball this did not happen

        • As much as I hate Gerry Slimeball I'm not daft enough or care enough to make up stories involving disabled people.

The guy was moving around the laptop section. Hn sales rep kept approaching him several times giving him a sales pitch getting him to buy whatever he was looking at, to which he always responds saying he wants to look around. At one point she goes "Are you sure you know what you are looking for?" and he says he's just looking up reviews on his phone before buying something. She later comes to him a final time and goes: "Sir, you've been here for a while, other customers need to browse as well. I'm going to have to ask you to have a look at our website and come back later when you know what you want to buy".

It had barely been 30 minutes and the guy wasn't in anyone's way.
People working on commission and quotas have been known to do scummier things than asking someone to leave their store so they can work more customers or because they're upset their pushy sales pitches aren't working.

  • out of stock at Officeworks

  • Thanks, missed the Office work sale few days ago.

  • Genuine question, what did HN do to be hated by so many people?

    • Also want to know. Want to pull the trigger otherwise since officeworks cancelled my order, 3 times..

He called us "Professionals" and he lobbied for 10% tax on all oversea purchases.

For starters he wanted the Govt to make GST compulsory on overseas imports under $1000. Because he was crying no one was buying his stuff when the AU$ was higher than US$, during the mining boom. Now we have to pay GST for every thing that comes in from OS.
      Missed those days.
Talk about global economy be good for everyone. The corporate fat cats gets away with it and the peasants suffer.

I think it is because the HN boss Gerry lobbied to bring import products (less than $1000) under 10% GST in Australia.

In addition to the GST stuff they also got a lot of money through jobseeker jobkeeper subsidies and recorded record profits while doing so. They did give some of it back but only after a lot of public pressure.

      • Did they get a fine? Did they commit fraud ?

        • +1

I don't know the details of the jobkeeper program but I'm going to guess the government in a rush to get it up and running didn't exactly get everything right with regards to thresholds, limits etc.

While what they did was not illegal, the jobkeeper program was put in place to help struggling employers and employees keep connected by subsidising wages, not help ASX200 companies make huge profits.

Some businesses paid the money back unprompted (pretty sure JB Hifi was one). HN did not until the backlash was too much.

Geez… thanks guys. They will not get a cent from me from now on.

Here's another reason why he's so loathed.
He sets a online games store from UK so he doesn't have to pay GST.

  • I just wonder those OS that charge 10% extra, do they actually give the gov that or just keep it to themselves……extra easy 10% profit from aussie buyers

  • Thanks OP, bought one.
