  • this is a great little unit.

I use this for switching my camera, keyboard and mouse between work laptop and home computer. Can recommend.

  • Can completely vouch for these units.

I bought 1, then couple months later my wife wanted 1 so got her it aswell.

Have been using for well over 18 months now with no issues.

We use it to switch all our peripherals between our work PC and our gaming PCs.

Yep. Great unit. Would like them to make a usb C one

I have one of these, no longer used. It was used to swap between the PC and PS5, it worked great for a while, then it started to have random freezes, disconnecting for 10-15 seconds every few minutes when playing something (on both PC and PS5), drove me nuts. They said it was my setup and that it wasn't designed for high DPI mice and USB headsets?? Replaced with an IOGear 4x4 and haven't had issues since..

    • +3

Same issue with mine, but they said it was the polling rate of my devices… 1000hz mouse, 4000hz keyboard, USB headset, and a custom Simhub dash were enough to not keep this one performing well enough. One of the biggest issues was that this UGREEN unit couldn't keep close enough to 5v output, often drooping down to 4.4v, even when supplying it with plenty of external power. Returned and refunded.

Afterwards, I went through trying various USB switchers on Amazon, in the end, I found the Cable Matters one to be the best (https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B083JKDNRJ) that doesn't cause dropouts or disconnects - it's a lot more expensive, but it has a RF remote so the unit can be stuffed behind my desk, and it's been rock solid. I wrote a more thorough review on the CM Amazon listing under the name "Link" for those interested.

      • @lulzenberg I might go with the IOGear 4x4, how is the build quality? Does it feel cheap?

@Goldfire same question. The IOGear 4x4 looks a bit better imo

        Really appreciate the help

        • +1

The build quality is good, doesn't feel cheap. I've been using it for over a year now without any issues, plugged into main PC (Laptop), PS5 and an old Z600 workstation we use to host some game servers. Haven't had any issues running a SteelSeries Apex 350 keyboard, MX Vertical mouse (I keep it plugged in to the keyboard's USB ports instead of Bluetooth), Sennheiser GSP370 headset and PS5 controller. Comes with 4x USB-A 3 to USB-B 3 cables, the switch button isn't IR though, it's corded. The only negatives I could give is I feel like the switch button could be heavier (but you can just stick it down) and the display could be better for showing which output you're using (having the LED next to each USB, or at least in a line, rather than having them in a square format in the centre, if that makes any sense - looking at how the Cable Matters displays the output, that would be preferable imo).

To be honest, the IOGear was my next option if the Cable Matters one didn't work out for me. The CM one swayed me a bit because of the RF remote and hiding it behind the desk. I also run a powered USB3 hub off it to have on my desk in case I need more peripherals connected, like USB drives. It also included a power source for high drain devices, although I don't use it personally, I have a USB array of 8 ports that I used instead.

I use it to connect to my gaming desktop, a VM coming from unRAID that's in a different part of the house, and my retro DOS/Win98 PC (via USB4VC).
Using a Corsair K100 RGB, Logitech G500, the custom Simhub Dash, and a Audio Technica ATH-ADG1 headset.

Thankfully, I found that the CM ticked all the boxes for what I needed.

lulzenberg will need to fill you in on the IOGear though, either way, I don't think you'd be disappointed with either one.

@Goldfire: Really appreciate the info mate, was about to buy this one after hearing about others issues.

Check out my other comment to see the one I settled on :)

  • Thanks OP.
I currently have all the peripherals going into my monitor. That has a single usb cable that I move between the pc and laptop when I need to switch devices.
I suppose I could plug that into this dock and use a button press to switch between them, instead of unplugging and replugging. Talk about being lazy.
    Thanks!

  • Huh, I never know such thing like this existed for some reason. I need three output though, one for main PC, one for work laptop, and one for steam deck.

Also, I think this one is actually cheaper ($24 AUD) and they look almost the same aside from the branding? https://www.amazon.com.au/Selector-Computer-Switcher-Keyboar…

    • Yep, same thing. But now$28

  • If your just wanting to use it for keyboard and mouse switching, the USB 2.0 version comes in quite a bit cheaper when it's on sale and works fine.

  • Hmm, I had one of these to switch between my home PC and work laptop.

It was fine at first, but slowly the USB ports kept dying on it, eventually I only had 1 that worked properly lol, so ended up returning it

It would also randomly cause the laptop to BSOD which switching to it. I think that's more an issue with the crappy Surface Pro though, because I got a different USB switch and it still happens.

  • I have two of this (I think is this one), and on both the LED to indicate which of the outputs is active is 'the wrong way around', matches the port opposite to what you think it will be.
Am sad to say that it took me too long to figure out why the thing seemed to be not working!
(but otherwise happy with them - similar setup as for others, switching between work MS surfacepro, and home laptop)

  • Got one of these for $13 ORICO USB C Hub 4 Ports USB 3.1 Type C to USB 3.0 Hub Adapter https://amzn.asia/d/dM13kTK . Have been happy with it so far.

    • +1

this appears to be a hub not a switch?

      • Good point. Reread the post was for a switch.

  • I am after a unit that is the opposite of this.
Sharing 1 or 2 USB devices (Wireless keyboard / mouse) with 4 PC's.

    • +1

the cable matters one linked above will do 4 PCs

    • I repaced this ugreen one with https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B07RC8F2L3

It's only USB 2.0, but it can share to 4 devices and is fine for mouse and keyboard

  • Amazing, thank you!

  • +1

Because others reported issues, try this one for $95/$100

    https://cplonline.com.au/aten-us234-at-2-port-usb-3-0-periph…

Its usb 3.2 and has a remote.

Sold by Mwave, Scorptec and all Aussie computer stores so has to be pretty legit. Easy refunds.

  • Anyone else experience this high pitch frequency sound from the unit? Soft enough to blend into the background sometimes, other times I'm just highly conscious of it.

  • I wish they'd make this with all 6 USB ports on one side. Having the ports on both long edges makes it messy for cable management
