Fortis Shimano 7 Speed 26” Foldable Mountain Bike Being Urgently Recalled

Thought to post this since we see heavily discounted Fortis bikes posted on here every now and then. The issue is listed as "The bicycle frame may crack or break below the rear suspension during use."

    Is anything from Kogan good?

    • Kogan Home Brands = Western sounding badges slapped on Alibaba junk

      What could possibly go wrong?

That's 26 recalls so far from Kogan. I guess that's what happens when you are just rebadging random products from various OEMs. 2020 was the worst year for kogan, with 8 recalls in that single year.

Kmart however has a whopping 153 recalls although they've been around much longer than Kogan have

    • Actually more like 15 when you put in "Kogan Australia Pty" the discrepancy in figures appears to be due, to other items being listed on Kogan's market place, not Kogan imports.

    • Kmart was once a store that sold good stuff. Now they just import the cheapest junk they can and are making a fortune from it. Then people donate it to places like Vinnies and there it is thrown in the bin.

A foldable mountain bike sounds like terrible idea if you plan on using it as a mountain bike

    • It probably has a sticker on it saying it’s not for off road use.

"Mountain bike - not to be used on mountains or as a bike"

  • I took one look at the photo of the bike in that recall notice and without reading the detail, immediately thought the frame looked suspect. No way I'd ever buy something like that - purely based on a crappy photo.

    • Agree with you. A budget aluminium frame with that much leverage straight on that joint? I don't think it would hold my weight much less take a jump or mountain biking.

    • Looks like a 1990s Huffy. That it is also folding just adds to the wtf factor.
