A word of thanks
We started this family business 3 years ago as my snoring was causing issues in our 35+ year relationship. I was sleeping over 50% of the time in the spare room which was not what we wanted
After trying a few other options we turned to Breathe Right Nasal strips and they made a big difference. However, at $1 a strip it was expensive and I was doing silly things like trying to re-use strips for the 2nd night which generally didn't work.
We decided to see if we could sell nasal strips ourselves and after a lot of research and testing, we sourced a range that matched the big guys for quality but we were able to sell our strips for as little as 20c each
The response, sales, feedback, and reviews have been incredible and the Oz Bargain community has been an amazing support and really consolidated us the best seller on

This reads more like an advertisement than a bargain.

  • These donā€™t work. Stick a Band-Aid on your face and try it yourself.

    • +2

Are you saying this brand doesn't work, or this type of product? I have used strips (not these ones) and they have definitely worked.

    • At least the Band-Aid is Safe to use TGA approved .
I guess it a bit like all those Vitamin companies pushing that line hehe :)

      • These are safe to use and non-invasive. Our Clear strips are TGA listed
For those wondering how they work here is How to safely apply and remove Nasal strips to help stop snoring and breathe better

Listed and Registered are vastly different and people who are trying to sell you snake oil will let you think they are the same.

"Unlike registered medicines, we do not assess each listed medicine for efficacy before it goes onto the market."

They don't work for everyone but I personally use them every night and they help me. That is why I started the company. But you don't have to believe me we have 1000+ positive reviews and comments on eBay.
      Check them out here

      • Hmmmm . I'll try to source some Chinese band-aids too . That is impressive OP .
        No doubt nice margins :)

        • +1

In all fairness to the OP, going by the link someone posted below, it's ~15c a piece if you order 10,000 minimum and that won't include shipping.. where as you can buy a pack of 365 from their ebay store and it comes in at 18.6 cents with free shipping. If they've gone in on 100,000+ of them to bring the price down to 7.6c and if they some how got free shipping and free customised packaging, they're raking in a whopping 11c a piece.

This post hasn't exactly got me buying strips again, but it has definitely left me knowing I'll never buy them from a chemist again where you're looking at $26-28 for 30 on special..

    • +7

Band-aids are not rigid strips that open up your nostrils, what a stupid comparison.

    • These donā€™t work.

      These work well…

      • +1

Having tried both the rhinomed and these strips, I can recommend both. I actually find myself reaching for these strips more often, it's less invasive and better for night after night use. The rhinomed ends up hurting a bit.

Comparing these strips to bandaids is stupid, the rigid strip lifts your nose up. You feel the air flow straight away. The strip is sufficiently rigid and the glue that holds it on is just right.

Ten bucks to trial the product - if you get some relief then great. That's literally the point of a trial right?

  • +2

    Why are these disposable?

Are you just reselling crap from Alibaba?

    • Hey thanks for the question
They are a one-time-use product as the adhesive loses its strength once they are worn.
We have searched for biodegradable options but cannot find any unfortunately
Therefore I guess by charging less makes a one-time-use product a bit more affordable.

    • I can't really say anything about the reselling from Alibaba, I'd assume anything in bulk like this probably is, but to my knowledge all nasal strips are disposable - do you know a brand that isn't??

    • +3

Can you show me any nasal strips that aren't disposable?

  • +2

I have tried Nasal strips before. What these does is it just keeps the nostril open in the part where the strip is applied. unfortunately for me, my snoring caused at the back of my nasal and thus these strip are deemed useless for me.

If i was to take a guess, i reakon this will only work on a very very small % of people imo.

    • +1

They're pretty great (or at least the ones from the chemist, i'd assume these are the same) if you've got a deviated septum. For sleeping and for exercise, makes nose breathing so much better.

  • This is what you are buying. The manufacturer is Nantong City YOJO Medical Products Co Ltd from their "TGA approved" certificate. Whatever it means…
    https://ntyojo.en.alibaba.com/productgrouplist-802461818/Nasā€¦

    • so basically you'd save 3cents a piece if you bought 10,000 of them and got free shipping vs buying them in packs of 365 from the OP's ebay store šŸ¤”

      • Thanks for the support.

There is a lot more to selling these products than just ordering from Alibaba and ordering BIG volume is just one part of that challenge (there are dozens of extra costs involved that I won't bore everyone with)

We look after our customers and try and sell the best product we can

  • Show me the evidence.
I get too many patients telling me about this utter bullocks crap and itā€™s actually life threatening when they donā€™t use their CPAP.

    • +1

I will try and track down studies that exist to the effectiveness of Nasal Strips. shortly
In the meantime, I stand by the very high return customer rates and sales we have and the feedback I shared above 1000 + ebay reviews.
I'm not sure why customers would comment positively if they were not happy with the product.

      • +1

My guess is diazepam would be looking for evidence it can be used to treat sleep apnoea, of which there isn't any. The closest you will find is anecdotal evidence that using them in conjunction with a CPAP machine can be beneficial. I don't see you mentioning anywhere that it is a treatment for sleep apnoea though, neither does Breathe Right, so I think the only evidence anyone can really ask for with these is if they can actually help alleviate snoring in some people. Personally, I've felt a difference when using Breathe Right strips, and there are studies that also reflect this, which were how I justified even trying them to begin with.

        https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/9299650/
        https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/9707518/
        https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/8076538/

My partner was able to sleep better while I was using them also, but in the end we calculated the cost at nearly $400/year using Breathe Right, so in the end opted to buy her some BOSE sleep buds for about $250, which have been working (for her) for over a year now, so I guess they paid for themself.

Off topic, but think you would have probably got a better reception here if your post didn't read like an infomercial.

        • +1

LOL, you shifted the problem to your partner to "fix" by blocking her ears at night (not a healthy thing to do).

          Bose have discontinued Sleepbuds BTW.

I can't think of anything I'd like less than to strap a CPAP machine to my face at bedtime. That's a last resort if ever I saw one!

I've never tried the strips, but can't see any reason to call them "utter bollocks crap" as the parent comment does. I'm sure they work for some people. The principle behind their usage seems to make sense. I also think a slightly elevated or sloping bed makes sense too. Not just the pillow, but the whole bed raised slightly at the pillow end. These low-fi solutions may work or not, but no harm trying.

        • Thanks for researching all this information
I will take on board your feedback about the post content.
I did think this forum appreciated a bit more information about the product, thus the infomercial style.
We do not proclaim to fix sleep apnoea, but I understand 80%+ of snoring is because of insufficient air going through the nose, and as you said it makes a small difference and for me, lets my lovely wife sleep a bit better.

For the record, we are just a small business trying to take on the big guys and make some extra income as we near retirement
There seems to be a bit of anger being directed toward us (not your posts) for daring to make a profit while providing Nasal Strips at 25/30% of the Pharmacy brands. Sorry for the rant, I'm getting a bit tired and emotional now….

          • @SleepQuiet: OzB can be cruel, you seem to be doing well with your store though based on it's feedback. If the people here don't want cheaper nasal straps, that's their loss. Hopefully some of the responses haven't cut too deep, but there are a lot of companies that come through and just try to use OzB as another place to advertise their fly-by-night dropshipping product, and people can have some very jump over-the-top reactions when they think they've spotted one. Strap one on and get a good nights sleep I guess, tomorrow is another day.

            • @lulzenberg: Wow, this message has made me feel a lot better, so kind of you.
              Your perspective is very insightful.
We have been going for over 3 years now and while it's been challenging we get a lot more positive than negative feedback
              Hopefully, they work for you.
              Thanks again for the support

        • +1

Thanks. Good call and I take your points on board. Yes I was comparing against a CPAP machine but unfairly so.

Sure, thanks for linking the studies. I had a brief read of the first article and respectfully, I noticed in the first article: This study was supported in part by CNS, Inc., (Minneapolis, USA).

Thereā€™s an RCT here that I came across https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31209698/ and hereā€™s an interesting systematic analysis that I read purely out of curiosity / disbelief https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5187471/

Iā€™m sure weā€™d be both able to find articles supporting either way until the sun goes down but thanks for pointing out my incorrect assumption and letting me dive a tiny bit deeper than simply dismissing these as snake oil.

For what itā€™s worth, Iā€™ll buy some just to play around with because the mrs has been complaining about my snoring. Iā€™m not sure what to expect but thanks for keeping me open minded.

          • @diazepam: Thank you for taking the time to educate and support us at the same time

They sort of work, occasionally. I tried them and even after cleaning my face carefully they still fell off most nights. I get the impression they are only effective for people who are back sleepers. Anyone whose face touches the pillow is likely to decrease the likelihood they will fall off. Missus reckons a slight decrease in snoring but definitely not elimination. YMMV.

    • +1

The only way to properly measure success is to set up a sound recorder near bed and leave it on all night, over several nights.

Then take the audio file into a computer, where you will see the noise events on the timeline, so you can quickly scrub to where the snoring is without needing to listen back 8 hours of audio! It's also a good way to generally monitor quality of breathing - smooth vs clogged etc.

      • They have apps for that, the phone records when it detects noise but realistically the ultimate litmus test is if your partner's sleep disturbance is reduced.

        • Yes apps if you get the right one that can listen and record for 8 continuous hours and isn't harvesting your data.

Breathing better during sleep isn't about other people's irritation. Your partner might become used to the snoring, which isn't solving the core problem.

      • These worked similarly to the breathe right strips for me, but nightly use agitated the inside of my nose, ended up with what felt like sores in my nose.. tried different sizes and adjusting, but each time time I started again it'd end up the same after about a week or two

        • +1

          Same result for me.

I absolutely LOVE rhinomed. I don't travel without one. If I get hayfever or have the slightest blockage, I struggle to fall asleep. Rhinomed is a lifesaver when I'm like that.

I'm opting for these strips for more regular use now, to protect the inside of my nose.
