  • are these rechargeable?

    • +2

      Yes, NiMH is rechargeable.

      • not only are they just rechargeable, they are "LSD" Low Self Discharge which most rechargeable batterys arent. and having bought and used these before they are defiantly worth buying and in my experience (even compared to the "famous" eneloops which i also own) they are the best battery on the market.

      • Do you think they could be suit for the solar light?

  • I just bought 14 of them :)
    Thanks for the post.

    • +2
    • What does this mean? I've got 6 AA and 4 AAA in cart for total of $20.50 delivered. Shall i continue?

      • +2

I bought 26 of the AAA about a 1&1/2 months ago, so far very happy with them.

    • +6

hmm,I'm from Earth and Eneloop on Earth is NiMh battery…

    • +2

You might want to review your sources regarding the En[e]loop battery chemistry.

  • +1

I like these batteries and they are a fantastic price. But to be honest this is a regular price (when they are actually available) so there really isn't much of a bargain here.

    • +4

its more a bargain in the fact that they are available..

thought it would be a decent 'heads up' on their price and availability as they are usually on backorder

I've had mind sitting there on back order for several weeks so I'm happy they are available because them and the AAA's i ordered will finally ship

      • +2

Yep and we appreciate the heads up! Saves all of the rest of us having to troll the site for availability…

        • Agreed, the AA's in particular sell out really fast at Hobbyking…a heads-up is the battery equivalent of one bear telling another that the salmon are running! :)

  • -5

I stand corrected. But it is still marketed as a rechargeable battery with life cycles up to 1500 and I can not see were the above advertised battery advertisement states it is a rechargeable battery or how many cycles

    • +2

The number of "cycles" is tested according to what standard? By convention it seems that after that many cycles the battery capacity is 50%. But some manufacturers may use a different threshold, plus the life will vary depending on how hard the battery has been used and charged (charging and discharging current). If you look on the candlepower forums and elsewhere you will see that these Turnigy generally get good reviews.

    • The battery is LSD (not for ingesting) and has NiMH written on the battery.

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Low_self-discharge_NiMH_battery

  • -7

Agreed. Cant see them advertised as rechargeable.

  • Just ordered a bunch of eneloops :(

    • ah well, at least the more pretty looking :D

  • +1

NiMH is rechareable and LSD means Low Self Discharge. These batteries have great review but I am now loaded with 160 glitter eneloops that will lasts me until the next best things to come out.

    • +4

160 eneloops…do your remote controls have remotes?

      • +5

He uses them for his Prius…

        • and still needs another 24,000.

        • LOL.

  • Where does the order ship from now? I see they advertise that they have a warehouse in NSW and that shipping is from $8.99.

Or are you guys still ordering from the US?

    • +1

They should be coming in from HK.

    • +2

I don't think they stock batteries in the Aus warehouse, when I ordered they came from Singapore.

      • +1

Same, Singapore for me too last time I ordered.

  • 2400mAh LSDs…I'm impressed! :)

    • -3

sanyo doesn't exagerate their capacities as much as tunigy… these have less capacity than eneloop

      • +1

        Fair point.

      • +1

Actually i use these in my sons RC car radio, I find they last longer than eneloops. Not to mention cheaper as well. Turnigy make all kinds of batteries including big LiPo's.

        • +3

ditto, capacity testing on my intelligent charger not only do the turnigy's show a higher capacity than "advertised" but higher than my eneloops.
mikk: you can be an eneloop fanboi all you like, but dont rubbish the competition with your narrow minded fanboi'ism crud

      • The AAA's I bought(older gen) all tested above the rated capacity of 800mAH, all tested to be between 830-840mAH in a La-Crosse BC-700, the newer AAA's are rated at 900mAH I don't have any of those.

      • I get Sanyo AA's - rated at 2,700 MAh - for about Au$ 48 / 16 cells. With the Aussie $ at current high values, this is a good time to import either type.

        I don't know if Sanyo's are LSD's… anybody know?

The Au$ 48 -includes- shipping, from some eBay vendor.

Other vendors have Sony 2,700 MAh AA's for about the same price (maybe $1 or $2 more).

        • +2

          "I don't know if Sanyo's are LSD's… anybody know?"

if you don't know whether they are LSD then your comparison is useless..

and 16 of these would cost $40.44 (cheaper per battery if you add a few more as there is still weight left in the shipping cap)

So these are cheaper and very well reviewed…

      • +1

        From the hobby king page:
"We guarantee our cells are true to their capacity!
Sadly battery marketing is an evil game, with overstated capacity being the industry norm. Generally speaking, battery factories will suggest vendors to overstate the capacity by at least 30%, marking 1800mAh cells with 2300mAh labels or more!
While this might work for toy stores, such marketing tactics wouldnt survive 1 week in our store with customer feedbacks and reviews, and thats why we guarantee our TURNIGY 2400mAh NiMH cells to be at least 2400mAh!"

Check the comments from hobby king users (and on whirlpool) these do test to at least their rated capacity.

  • Swim likes it.

  • Shipping is not cheap. $17.95 for my order. Think I'll pass.

    • You must have put 20 or more in the cart. I usually buy planes or boats from 'The King' and they tell you how many grams is left before the shipping prices go up. So I order what ever fits for effectively 'free shipping'. Sometimes I only get 2or 3 before shipping goes up, other times more, but I usually fill a hobbyking order to the gram.

  • +4

Im going to have to say its not a bargain, its normal price for these.

    • +2

this is "OzBargain" not OzOnlyOnSale" and these batteries are a bargain any way you look at it.

    • I had a post moved to the forums that was essentially the same as this.

The rules around here seem to change on this type of post.

      (Great deal btw)

  • +5

It is normal price but ALL hobbyking prices are so cheap it's like always on sale. I mean I can find gear they sell cheaper elsewhere. I've spent thousand$ over the past few years at hobbyking - including many orders of the LSDs and I reckon every purchase has been an out and out bargain.

  • Buddy codes? Or are they cheap enough anyway

  • -2

After all the frigging about you do with rechargable batteries are they really cheaper?

I've had 3 DSE glitter AAs, never used before, on my La Crosse charger for maybe 40 freakin' hours, discharging, charging, refreshing and testing, trying to work out why the mah figures are completely screwy … and I'm still no nearer an answer than when I started.

    • After all the frigging about you do with rechargable batteries are they really cheaper?

      In a word…yes!

trying to work out why the mah figures are completely screwy

You should post a few of those figures dude, there are some guys here who are quite knowledgeable on the topic of charging tech, I'm sure someone can point you in the right direction! ;)

  • +1

I use these in my camera flashes, some of my film SLRs and my Xbox controllers, never had a problem with them. Been using the same dozen for 18 months and they're going strong.

  • LSD trips for $1.59 each? I'm in.

    ;)

    • Be warned, it takes forever to get these to absorb sublingually…especially the AA's! :p

    • +1

these are the suppository type, let us know how you go…

      • shocking…… boom tish

    • Just don't leave them lying around on the floor, otherwise you'll be tripping on LSD! :D

  • -1

Can I get the LSD battery without the battery?

  • LSD battery. You put it on your tongue.

  • The lowest on Sanyo eneloop glitter I have seen was 8 for $19.95 delivered and this for 8 it cost $19.72 delivered
    Sanyo vs this brand -

    • Sanyo are made in Japan.

Sanyo any day of the week.

      • yes sorry.. the fanboi failboat sailed away days ago…. we all understand your not quite able to see past your "flaw" but please keep your opinions to yourself.

im happy to again test these batteries to show they are well over there advertised rating….. im also happy to test any other battery and give there ratings if you want a comparison

as i have said many times before… these are quite simply the best bang for buck battery on the market….. im happy for you to challenge that with proven facts rather than just an opinion :D
