A warning to everyone about Oppo.
My experience with Oppo had been great. I owned an Oppo A52 which honestly blew my mind for the $150 I paid during a JB-Hi-Fi 50% off sale.
I then upgraded to a refurbished Find X2 Pro during a decent deal and picked it up for $420. Things were going well. I then upgraded at some point later to a Find X5 Pro via the following deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/740013
All was well and although Oppo ran out of stock of the Oppo Pad Air, changed the redemption to be a $500 Oppo store gift card. I went through the redemption process and completed it in the middle of December 2022. To this day, I have not received my gift card and my order has never even been shipped according to my Oppo order.
In the months proceeding my order, I tried on several attempts to contact someone to discuss the matter. This was done, utilizing the 'Premium Hotline' which is a hotline set up especially for the owners of the X series of Oppo phones. The number was disconnected every time I tried to call and normal customer service didn't work.
I totally forgot about the whole thing and just remembered recently, so went back and called the premium hotline. It was a 30 minute wait and I was told I would've been emailed my gift card and to check my spam. I said, spam is deleted after 30 days and I was specifically told in communications from Oppo during the redemption period that I would be mailed my gift card. The issue has now been escalated and I'm awaiting a response.
I thought how tragic this experience has been. To top it off, the gift card expires in June 31st and I don't even have it yet. They haven't received any more stock of the pad air and many other products are no longer available or out of stock. It's basically a useless gift card.
I then investigated this 'Premium Hotline'. It took 8 minutes to get through to customer service using the standard line and 30 minutes using the premium line. I spoke to the team and they confirmed, there is no way for them to confirm if the user has a premium line eligible device until they're connected and at that point they just help the person regardless. I find this to be such a deceiving tactic in marketing from Oppo in that this Premium Hotline is utter garbage, bordering on false advertisement and this gift card fiasco and follow-up customer service is a joke. We'll see if I even get it.
I'd love to know if anyone else received their gift card or oppo pad from the same promotion?
I think this will be the end of my time with Oppo. Haven't had any issues with the devices, but the way their customer service is set up locally is crap.
Mmm, interesting.
