Looking for Best Value Fridge - $2,000 Budget

Looking to buy a fridge. Family size is 5 and not extremely fussed on style. Would like it to have a non-plumbed water dispenser, but not hugely important.

Kitchen is open floor plan so no limit on size. These 2 are what I've found so far. The LG seems to be much better quality from what I've read. But at the lower price the hisense is tempting, I am leaning toward the LG more though.

LG GS-N635L 635L - $1999 + $55 (Free delivery if purchased direct from LG?)

Hisense HRSBS578SW - 578L - can be had for about $1180 + Delivey ($55)

Are there better buys out there at the moment? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Have a look at the choice reviews. I've not found a more scientific appraisal of a fridge yet. And I'm all ears if there's a zero cost alternative research/review source.

i got a factory second Fisher Paykel one, for 1500 delivered its black and matte and it was 4k at HN.

    • Never even thought about this. Might have a look tomorrow at seconds.

      • mine wasn't even a 2nd either, it came in a box and had all the wrapping on it like a brand new one.
apparently, the matte glass on the door was cracked when it came into the country and the door was replaced and put back in the box and resold as a 2nd
the fridge i have is RF605QZUVB1

    • Hi mate, might be a stupid question but where would one find seconds?

      • I got mine from a dude on Facebook marketplace. He has all different grade ones too

      • All i did was search "Factory Second Fridges" and i got a few results.

Factory Plus (a warehouse that deals in seconds i believe?)
Harvey Norman clearance Electrical Seconds (This might be perth only?)

Plenty of other results came up also. I think a lot of places operate on the likes of Gumtree and Facebook marketplace also.

I think Auburn have a seconds centre.

Broadmeadow in Newcastle has one as well.

Get the LG it’ll make you much happier using it rather than the Hisense.
I think don’t get an Electrolux because it’ll fall to pieces.

    • Yeah I am definitely leaning towards this.

    • I think it's Christmas soon too.

Have bought 6 Electrolux Fridges between family members, 10+ years ago, and they still going strong. At that time they were made in S. Aus as well.

      • Well as long as you guys stay happy with them and they don’t break down keep them! Electrolux fridges are made in Mexico now so you’ve got no hope of them lasting as long as yours that were made in SA have. Electrolux now is definitely not a contender for anything I recommend at work (JB) or buy. I’ve helped with processing so many warranty repairs for Electrolux vacuums it’s not fun.

          Ewww, run!

I think Electrolux Fridges are made in Turkey, so is some of the German brands these days. Even back in the days, they were using some of German tech. I only know about fridges, not sure about other stuff.

  • I would check out the Mitsubishi Electric and Panasonic ones on places like appliances online, both brands use the same parts.

    • I was having a look at these brands, but they seemed a little out of my price range for a size that is required for my family.

For anyone interested - I ended up going for the LG from LG.com.au.

I was able to get a $50 off first purchase as well as an additional $100 by asking for the best offer they can give me (over the phone). They said they don't normally but will offer a 5% off ($97.50 off $1,950).

$1852.50 delivered and installed is a great deal for me. The alternative was $1999 + $55 delivery at good guys.

I also enquired about delivery times for me (W.A) and LG told me typical times are 5-10 days for W.A.
