This pasta has changed my life.

    I always felt like
'why would I buy expensive pasta.'
' it's just flour, water and salt, can't be that great'
'I'm not some fancy pants schmuck, home brand for me'

Well this pasta is worth it (at half price at least). Such a better texture and taste that I stock up every time.

Hope I've convinced 1 person to at least give it a try, to me it's worth the extra.

(I do still buy home brand pasta for making pasta bake etc where the extra would be lost)

    • You can’t convert atheists.

if you own shares in the pasta company it'll definitely change your life too.

    • It's worth it as long as it's not overcooked. Cook for 3-4 minutes less than what the packet says, then transfer to the pan where the sauce has been cooking, with a little bit of pasta water. It continues cooking in the sauce and is just right when eating.

Bacon only 47% off? I am outraged!!

  • You are lucky to get 350g of prawn meat after it is thrawt, the IQF seafood makes the seafood looks big when frozen but once it is thrawt it has lost so much weight, you are better off buying fresh prawns, shell them and frozen them in batches.

    • +10

      thrawt

      That's enough internet for today

I got a 1 kilo packet of frankfurts last week with at least 200ml of water in the bottom of the bag.

    • Removing the head and shell from a prawn leaves you with about half the weight you started with.

So, let's do the numbers. The cheapest "fresh" (thawed) raw prawns at Coles at the moment are $20/kg. So $12 would get you 600g of prawns. Once you remove the head and shells, you will end up with about 300g of prawn meat.

So, even if you are right about "350g of prawn meat" from the frozen prawns, you're still better off with the frozen prawns. And that's without taking into account the time and effort needed to peel and devein all the thawed prawns yourself.

Peeling the prawns yourself will give you shells that you can use in a stock. But it's not more cost-effective in terms of the yield of meat.

      • There's always extra water content when they are frozen, sometimes a lot. Pretty sure it's actually the same product too, I've been handed frozen prawns at the deli counter that still has all the extra frozen water.

      • agree, at this sale price the only time its better to prep yourself is if you're after larger prawns and if you'll be scoring them for breading to keep it from curling.

    Thanks Mr Gamgeeee

I do miss the old website. New one is is trying for the same crappy 'in your face' experience you get in store. Which means I will certainly spend less time (and money).

  • Don't come the raw prawn with me !!!

    • That’s what I thrawt you would say

The Spice Tailor kits are actually super delicious. I'd say on par with some of the nicer Indian resturant resturants I've been to.

    • Oh good. Haven't used my freebie of the Spice Tailor kit from last week yet

  • Are these frozen prawns deveined?
