[PSVR2] Is Foveated Rendering Actually Working in GT7?

Hi,

question for PSVR2 owners. Do you find the headset blurry asf?

I tried every possible way to adjust the headset, tuned the dial, eye tracking in calibration etc still no void.

Was told foveated rendering is working in GT7 but every way I look is blurry.

  • I noticed it at first on YouTube (Super GT), that when he showed his screen you could see blurry sections where he was not looking. Maybe try with a friend and your tv to see if there are the same blurry bits? Obviously you cannot test this by yourself with the headset on but maybe you could capture the HDMI out from your ps5.

    • Sounds like something I should do. Thanks.

If social screen is clearer than the headset itself that be fuark.

  • From the rumblings on Twitter it's solved by turning the brightness way down.

    • Done that…

  • +1

Isn't the problem that it has a tiny sweet spot right in the centre of the lens? If you get that off a tiny bit then it's very blurred with colour aberrations

  • I've read reviews and apparently it works and is good, but it's not perfect. But c'mon, a console game is rendering based on where you are looking with your eyeballs, that's scifi level shit. That it works good at all is pretty great.

  • Just turning the issue away from hardware - do you wear glasses in the real world?

If so, you'll need to wear them while also using VR even though the lense is so close to your eyes.

My PSVR2 is indeed blurry on the outskirts when playing GT7. I have to turn my head to that viewport to get clarity as the eye tracking isn't working (?) or optimised for GT7

    • No I don't wear glasses irl

Apparently foveated rendering (also apparently reddit say is NOT eye tracking…) works for many youtuber that's for sure.

      • Foveated rendering would require eye tracking by definition.

Heat from eyes may cause the lenses in the PSVR2 to blur after a while at the GT7 center sweet spot - a microfibre cloth can help to restore what clarity there is.

Looking at menu text with one eye then adjusting the headset position for the least amount of double vision then trying to hold that point while adjusting for the other eye can help to get the most clear view before tightening the rear headset dial.
