I Bought a Jeep Gladiator Rubicon (Demo) - Good Deal?

So I bought a Jeep Gladiator yesterday. Paid the $500 holding deposit and have until today 5pm to cancel.

This is a Demo vehicle with 2000kms. I have not been able to negotiate much at all. They are saying it’s already hugely discounted.

I just wanted to get a second opinion here.

Jeep Gladiator Rubicon MY22, built May 22. 2000kms, $79,000. Rego till Nov 23.

I did look on Carsales etc and can’t find any similar vehicle below $80k.

I guess I just want the peace of mind that this is a good deal.

Now you're ready to take all the doors off, put -50 offset 20 inch alloys on and never take it off road!

It's a high yield investment, so that's ok

Did you do your homework re. reliability index or just buy blindly? I'd forgo the 500 personally.

& If it's for farm use get a Japanese equivalent. LandCruiser would be much better.

    • The equivalent dealer demo Landcruiser is $120,000+

      • Yea guess I should've said a 10 yo Landy would be much more reliable, especially on a farm.

But will have much better resale value due to their reliability, meaning that the total cost of ownership may well be lower and with less heartache in the meantime.

  • Owned 2 jeep wranglers, early and late model jk. Jeep service know nothing about the cars and if you know someone at a service centre they will tell you how bad they are when things go wrong and they just can't get parts. Mainly because they are backordered due to crap things like using plastic for oil coolers.

I was stupid enough to buy a second one hoping they had fixed the problems in the older car, they did but created new issues.

Would I buy any jeep again, no chance

    Walk away.

Probably too late for $500 but you could still let that go and save $78,400 of your hard earned money.. Jeez, I am still scratching my head how on earth one could stick with a Jeep for 10 years.. You must love being stranded in the middle of nowhere, have a bit of an adventure. I'm sure you have never had a trouble free car so you probably do not know any difference. Oh my goodness..

Toyota takes $1000 deposit for new cars and still let you walk away with full refund even if you change your mind after a year, yet you agreed to a crap Jeep with just two days to decide on your deposit. My car is 13 years old, 230,000 km done; apart from tyres, battery, wiper blades and $60 service every 15,000 km, I haven't spent a cent on it. For the entire life of the car (13 years), I may have spent less than $1,000 for services (that's less than $100 per year) and I have never had any problems whatsoever. I'm not exaggerating anything here. This may be hard to believe if you're a Jeep owner but Toyota is so popular (and Jeep is so infamous) for very good reasons.

  • I wonder if op will join this gladiator problems forum

    https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/forum/threads/jeep-gladia…

    • Every car forum has the same sort of thread. When I had my Toyota Prado the forums were full of injector failures and cracked piston threads.

Im not sure if this is the same trim as the one you are getting.

Get a Jeep…it’s for smart humans

Great quality, and you get to show off to people about how clunky it drives, uses a ton of fuel, and it’s superior engine lol

    Awesome deal mate

i know a handful of people with jeeps that all had a list of problems from new. buying a jeep should be illegal

Jeez a 3 star ANCAP? hope you don't drive around with anyone you love.

  • Would not buy a jeep myself, but if thats the car you want who cares about the price if you're happy.

  • Thanks for posting mate, I didn't think there was any brand people here hated more than Alfa Romeo, it's been entertaining to watch someone else's brand get bashed for a while!

  • We need closure on your high yield investment? Have you picked it up yet, or has it broken down already?
