On sale is this multi-mode gateway that allows you to pair together Tuya and Zigbee smart home sensors and devices. This is particularly important for Zigbee sensors as they require a gateway to work, unlike Tuya sensors.

An example is a temp/humidity sensor sending a command to the IR Blaster to turn on the aircon when a certain temperature is reached. Or a smart socket to power on a humidifier or fan. You can also control these sensors anywhere over the internet if you like.

There's two models on the listing. The G01 features Tuya and Zigbee 3.0, while the G01 Pro features Tuya, Zigbee 3.0 and Bluetooth 5.0 for Bluetooth mesh smart home sensors.

AU$ based on current Mastercard rate, GST inclusive and stacks with cashback.

  • What's the difference between the 2 models?

    • +1

It's in the description, though I did forget to add the Pro oops.

  • Can this work easily with garage door openers or is it just sensors?

    • +1

If they're Tuya or Tuya Zigbee garage door openers they can.

      • Easier to sort out that the meross stuff?

        • +1

Meross works out of the box. You don't need this.

  • Hass.io compatibility?

    • +1

I’d suggest just getting a dongle.

  • Do these works with zigbee sensors like the door sensor you posted few weeks ago from AliExpress

    • AFAIK yes.

I would wait until matter protocol version is released tbh, especially for a hub.

Here we are 3 years later. Let's hope it actually happens.

      • With announcements like this one from Belkin I'm starting to wonder if Matter will ever deliver on the promise of seamless home automation for the masses.

        • Yea sounds like a fail. I don't see all these companies willing to open up.

  • Their GST calculations seem to exceed 10%. GST needs to be added to the price of the G01 PRO as well.

  • Just starting to look into these… is this the same as the gateway needed for Fingerbots to get triggered remotely?

I thought home assistant hub is best.

  • Would this bring hue branded remotes (and pottentially lights too) under tuya control ?? (to be later added to samsung smart things ?)

  • So this would work as a hub for ZigBee and tuya devices connected via Home Assistant?

    • Yes but its better to go with the USB option, introducing delay and async issues with an ethernet/remote radio is asking for trouble IMHO and as per the HA forums.
From what I have heard, the Sonoff USB dongle is one of the best recommendations at this time, but I get confused between the E and P models (or something like that).
I believe one might be using Texas Instruments and one might be using Silicon Labs…..

  • @Clear any deals on the USB zigbee coordinator? I need a good deal to recommend to those I am trying to indoctrinate into ZHA and home assistant :)
